Hmm. The T-R and W-H have a variance here but the Byz-Maj text seems to agree with the T-R.

This form of the greek word to be amazed/awed is used 6 times in the NT. 1 each in Matt, Mark and Luke and 3 times in Acts, 2 of those concerning the event of Pentecost. Pretty interesting.

This word for "pained" is used only 5 times in the NT. 4 times in Luke and 1 time in acts and curiously, 2 times in the parable of the rich-man/lazarus [Luke 16:24,25]. Interesting.

2:48 And seeing Him they were astonished and saying towards Him the mother of Him "child! why Thou do this to us thusly. Behold! the father of Thee and I ones being sore-grieved/odunwmenoi <3600> (5746) sought Thee"

51Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.

Jesus was a good boy. He obeyed His mother. :)

I can just hear Mary years later, maybe at the Wedding in Cana: "Oh yes, He was a good boy."

So what does "treasured all these things in her heart" mean?

This isn't the first time Mary "treasured" up things (Luke 2:19).

I think she could (or tended to) keep things quiet and think about (or cherish) them.

She had clues that Jesus was special, but I don't think she was able to put the pieces together. She was no different than anyone else IMO until after the resurrection as to what Jesus was truly about.

This greek word #4487 used 27 times in NT all but 2 times in Luke, John and Acts [2 times in Epistles]. Seems like many Bible version leave this word #4487 out for some reason. Young LT and Douay-Rheims do use it.

2:51 and he descended with them and came into Nararet and was being subject to them and the mother of Him fully-kept all the declarations/sayings/rhmata <4487> *these in the heart of her.

Douay-Rheims) Luke 2:51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these words in her heart.

It seems to indicate that on some level she understood the magnitude of what was going on, and accordingly, understood that it was not a time to shout it from the roof top. Until the wedding at Cana... Interesting too, that while she keep these things in her heart, He remained "a secret" and when she "decided" to reveal Him, He did it - even though it was not yet His time...

Had she held her tongue a minute more, He wouldnt have had to
say that it wasnt yet His time. We are often impatient even when
we've tried to wait.

He had no choice (GOD had no choice) because of the integrity of His Word
will not be compromised.
He is not a man that He should lie, or the son of man that He should
repent.. Has He not said it and will He not do it?
Honor your parents... etc.
Quite mind boggling when one considers the implications.
