“MUST BE FULFILLED AT THE TIME POINTED
OUT IN THE SYMBOLIC SERVICE”
BY THE PROPHET E.G. WHITE

“I could say much regarding the sanctuary, the ark containing the law of God, the cover of the ark, which is the mercy seat, the angels at either end of the ark, and other things connected with the heavenly sanctuary and with the great day of atonement. I could say much regarding the mysteries of heaven, but my lips are closed. I have no inclination to try to describe them.” {2MR 320.2}

“Light will come to God's people, and those who have sought to close the door will either repent or be removed out of the way. The time has come when a new impetus must be given to the work. There are terrible scenes before us, and Satan is seeking to keep from our knowledge the very things that God would have us know. God has messengers and messages for his people. If ideas are presented that differ in some points from our former doctrines, we must not condemn them without diligent search of the Bible to see if they are true. We must fast and pray and search the Scriptures as did the noble Bereans, to see if these things are so. We must accept every ray of light that comes to us. Through earnest prayer and diligent study of God's word, dark things will be made plain to the understanding.” ST, May 26, 1890 par. 12

“As the light is diffused, given to others, greater light will come. The reason why the churches sit in darkness and have no light, is that they have not given light, they have not been as a city set upon a hill, that cannot be hid.” RH, February 10, 1891 par. 13

“ Every act of consecration to God brings joy; for as we appreciate the light He has given us, more and greater light will come. ML 174.4

“Yet every mind through whom the Holy Spirit has worked has presented these themes in a light that is fresh and new. The truths of redemption are capable of constant development and expansion. Though old, they are ever new, constantly revealing to the seeker for truth a greater glory and a mightier power.
In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. When Christ desired to open to His disciples the truth of His resurrection, He began "at Moses and all the prophets" and "expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself." Luke 24:27. But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of truth that glorifies the old. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form.” COL 127-128

“Follow every ray of light that you see, and that whichis shadowy will be made clear to your understanding as you walk in the light.”ST, January 24, 1895 par. 5

“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath [days] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.” Colossians 2:16,17

“It is when we walk in the light that shines upon us, obeying the truth that is open to our understanding, that we receive greater light. We cannot be excusable in accepting only the light which our fathers had one hundred years ago” ML 310.2 HS 197.1

“There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. "Why," they say, "should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?"--RH Extra, Dec. 23, 1890. {LDE 209,10}

“And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Daniel 12:9,10

“There can be no stronger evidence in churches that the truths of the Bible have not sanctified the receivers than their attachment to some favorite minister, and their unwillingness to accept and be profited by the labors of some other teacher who is sent to them in the providence of God.” 6BC 1086

“It is not enough to have good intentions; it is not enough to do what a man thinks is right or what the minister tells him is right. His soul's salvation is at stake, and he should search the Scriptures for himself. However strong may be his convictions, however confident he may be that the minister knows what is truth, this is not his foundation. He has a chart pointing out every waymark on the heavenward journey, and he ought not to guess at anything.” DD 38.2 GC88 598.1

“...take the Bible... the Lord has preserved this Holy Book by His own miraculous power in its present shape--a chart or guidebook to the human family to show them the way to heaven. . . .” FLB 13.6

“The Bible … It tells us of the love of God as shown in the plan of redemption, imparting the knowledge essential for all--the knowledge of Christ. He is the Sent of God; He is the Author of our salvation. LHU 130.5

“TYPICAL OF MYSTERIES IN THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION”

“The gospel of Christ reflects glory upon the Jewish age. It sheds light upon the whole Jewish economy, and gives significanceto the ceremonial law. The tabernacle, or temple, of God on earth was a pattern of the original in heaven. All the ceremonies of the Jewish law were prophetic, typical of mysteries in the plan of redemption 6BC 1095.5

“Christ was the foundation of the Jewish economy. The whole system of types and symbols was a compacted prophecy of the gospel,a presentation in which were bound up the promises of redemption.” AA 14.1

“ In Him the sacrificial types were to meet their anti-type, and His death on the cross was to lend significance to the entire Jewish economy.” AA 227.3

“The past, the history of the Jewish economy from the beginning to the end, instead of being spoken of contemptuously and sneered at as “the dark ages,” will reveal light, and still more light, as it is studied.” CTr 327.3 “it is sacred. Even after it was no longer to be observed,” ST, July 29, 1886

“Christ's mission was not understood by the people of His time. The manner of His coming was not in accordance with their expectations. The LordJesus was the foundation of the whole Jewish economy. Its imposing services were of divine appointment. They were designed to teach the people that at the time appointed One would come to whom those ceremonies pointed.” COL 34.3

“With profound and reverent interest the elders of Israel should have been studying the PLACE, the TIME, the circumstances, of the greatest event in the world's history,—the coming of the Son of God to accomplish the redemption of man. All the people should have been watching and waiting that they might be among the first to welcome the world's Redeemer.” GC88 313.1

“When Jesus in the synagogue read from the prophecy, He stopped short of the final specification concerning the Messiah's work. Having read the words, "To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord," He omitted the phrase, "and the day of vengeance of our God." Isaiah 61:2. This was just as much truth as was the first of the prophecy, and by His silence Jesus did not deny the truth. But this last expression was that upon which His hearers delighted to dwell, and which they were desirous of fulfilling.” DA 240

"The light shone in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not." 2SP 84.1

“Few realize the full meaning of the words that Christ spoke when, in the synagogue at Nazareth, He announced Himself as the Anointed One.” AA 416

“In types and symbols the great truths of redemption were veiled. Yet when Christ came, the Jews did not recognize Him to whom all these symbols pointed. They had the word of God in their hands; but the traditions which had been handed down from generation to generation, and the human interpretation of the Scriptures, hid from them the truth as it is in Jesus. The spiritual import of the sacred writings was lost. The treasure house of all knowledge was open to them, but they knew it not.” COL 104.4

“Christ and His mission had been but dimly understood as typified in the shadowy sacrifices. Even John had not fully comprehended the future, immortal life through the Saviour.” DA 220.2

“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” Luke 4:16-21

(NOTE: Bible cross-reference—Luke 4:16-21 to Isaiah 61:1,2 to Leviticus 25:8-10—Prophecies of the Jubilee.)

“Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest.I saw the pious slave rise in triumph and victory and shake off the chains that bound him, while his wicked master was in confusion and knew not what to do; for the wicked could not understand the words of the voice of God.”

“From time to time divinely appointed messengers of truthwere to be raised up to call attention to the meaning of the sacrificial ceremonies, and especially to the promise of Jehovah concerning theadvent of the One toward whom all the ordinances of thesacrificial system pointed. Thus the world was to be kept from universal apostasyPK 687.1

“If they are indeed Christians, they are prepared to acknowledge the sacredness and importance of the shadowy types, as they see the accomplishment of the events which they represent. The death of Christ gives the Christian a correct knowledge of the system of ceremonies and explains prophecies which still remain obscure to the Jews.” RH, May 6, 1875 par. 12

“CREATION SABBATH” “NOT A SHADOW”

“The Sabbath was committed to Adam, the father and representative of the whole human family. Its observance was to be an act of grateful acknowledgment, on the part of all who should dwell upon the earth, that God was their creator and their rightful sovereign; that they were the work of His hands, and the subjects of His authority. Thus the institution was wholly commemorative, and given to all mankind. There was nothing in it SHADOWY, or of restricted application to any people.” FLB 32.2

“The death of Jesus Christ for the redemption of man lifts the veil and reflects a flood of light back hundreds of years, upon the whole institution of the Jewish system of religion. Without the death of Christ all this system was meaningless. The Jews reject Christ, and therefore their whole system of religion is to them indefinite, unexplainable, and uncertain. They attach as much importance to SHADOWY CEREMONIES of types which have met their antitype as they do to the law of the ten commandments, which WAS NOT A SHADOW, but a reality as enduring as the throne of Jehovah. The death of Christ elevates the Jewish system of types and ordinances, showing that they were of divine appointment, and for the purpose of keeping faith alive in the hearts of His people” RH May 6, 1875, 6BC 1097.2

“As the Sabbath was the sign that distinguished Israel when they came out of Egypt to enter the earthly Canaan, so it is the sign that now distinguishes God's people as they come out from the world to enter the heavenly rest.” Counsels to the Church, 261

“The Sabbath is a sign of creative and redeeming power;” Education, 250

“At last Jesus was at rest. The long day of shame and torture was ended. As the last rays of the setting sun ushered in the Sabbath, the Son of God lay in quietude in Joseph's tomb. His work completed, His hands folded in peace, He rested through the sacred hours of the Sabbath day. … With this scene the day upon which Jesus rested is forever linked. ….When there shall be a "restitution of all things ... the creation Sabbath, the day on which Jesus lay at rest in Joseph's tomb, will still be a day of rest and rejoicing. Heaven and earth will unite in praise, as "from one Sabbath to another" (Isaiah 66:23) the nations of the saved shall bow in joyful worship to God and the Lamb.” DA 769,770

“...the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to GOVERN EVERYDAY LIFE. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not SHADOWY TYPES to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon men in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law.” Ibid., April 15, 1875 [Reprinted in RH May 6, 1875]). 1BC 1104.6

“And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep.' Some, who have been anxious to make of none effect the law of God, have quoted this word "Sabbaths," interpreting it to mean the annual Sabbaths of the Jews. ”-- RH, August 30, 1898 par. 9 EGW
“THE LATTER RAIN” “THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS ITS MYSTERIES”

“The significance of the Jewish economy is NOT YET fully comprehended. Truths vast and profound are shadowed forth in its rites and symbols. The gospel is the key that unlocks its mysteries.” COL 133

“He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given Matt. 13:11, Luke 8:10

“I was taken off in vision. . . . I saw that we sensed and realized but little of the importance of the Sabbath, to what we yet should realize and know of its importance and glory. . . . But when the refreshing and latter rain shall come from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power . . . . Then shall we see the Sabbath more in its importance and glory. But we shall not see it in all its glory and importance until the covenant of peace is made with AT THE VOICE OF GOD. . .” Mar 245

“But there was one clear place of settled glory, WHENCE CAME THE VOICE OF GOD … THEN COMMENCED THE JUBILEE , when the land should rest EW 34-25

“I saw that God had children, who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They had not rejected the light on it. And at the COMMENCEMENT OF THE TIME OF TROUBLE, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth, and PROCLAIMED THE SABBATH MORE FULLY . This enraged the church, and nominal Adventists, as they could not refute the Sabbath truth. And at this time, God's chosen all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured the persecution with us. And I saw the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion in the land. The wicked thought that we had brought the judgments down on them. They rose up and took counsel to rid the earth of us, thinking that then the evil would be stayed”. Broadside3, April 7, 1847 par. 4

“SHADOW SABBATHS” “SABBATHS BESIDE THE SABBATHS OF THE LORD”

“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink,or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath [days]: Which are a shadow of things to come;” Colossians 2:16, 17

“One day as Elder Corliss stepped out of a train, the guard [conductor] stopped him with the request that he explain Colossians 2:16. They stopped, and as the crowd rushed by, the explanation was given, and from Leviticus 23:37, 38 it was shown that there were sabbaths besides the Sabbath of the Lord.” RH, January 7, 1896 par. 14

“Beside the Sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day [shall be] a Sabbath, and on the eighth day [shall be] a Sabbath. Leviticus 23:37, 39

THE FIRST MONTH

“ In the fourteenth [day] of the first month at even [is] the LORD's passover.
And on the fifteenth day of the same month [is] the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread....the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
….the seventh day [is] an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work [therein]....And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.” Leviticus 23:5-11

“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete:
Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.” Leviticus 23:15-16

THE SEVENTH MONTH

“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first [day] of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Ye shall do no servile work [therein]:” Leviticus 23:24-25

“Also on the tenth [day] of this seventh month [there shall be] a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls,.... And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it [is] a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
For whatsoever soul [it be] that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off ….
And whatsoever soul [it be] that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people...... It [shall be] unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth [day] of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.
The fifteenth day of this seventh month [shall be] the feast of tabernacles [for] seven days unto the LORD. On the first day [shall be] an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work [therein].....on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you;.... [and] ye shall do no servile work [therein]..... Beside the Sabbaths of the LORD, …. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month,.... ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day [shall be] a Sabbath, and on the eighth day [shall be] a Sabbath.” Leviticus 23:27-39

“...these mystic symbols and shadowy types pointing to a Saviour to come,” TMK 101.3

“THE THIRD DAY”

“The Passover was followed by the seven days' feast of unleavened bread. On the SECOND DAY of the feast, the first fruits of the year's harvest, a sheaf of barley,was presented before the Lord. All the ceremonies of the feast were types of the work of Christ.” DA 77

“The Passover was followed by the seven day's feast of unleavened bread. The first and the seventh day were days of holy convocation, when no servile work was to be performed. On the SECOND DAY of the feast, the first fruits of the year's harvest were presented before God. Barley was the earliest grain in Palestine, and at the opening of the feast it was beginning to ripen. A sheaf of this grain was waved by the priest before the altar of God, as an acknowledgment that all was His. Not until this ceremony had been performed was the harvest to be gathered.” PP 539.4

“Philosophers endeavored to study into the mystery of the Hebrew economy. But the bigotry of the Jews hindered the spread of the light. Intent on maintaining the separation between themselves and other nations, they were unwilling to impart the knowledge they still possessed concerning the symbolic service. THE TRUE INTERPRETER MUST COME. The One whom all these types prefigured MUST EXPLAIN THEIR SIGNIFICANCE.” {DA 33.2}

“SABBATHS OF YEARS”

“At the end of [every] seven years thou shalt make a release.… it is called the LORD'S release.” Deuteronomy 15:1-2

“When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the LORD Leviticus 25:2

“And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of [every] seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,
When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that [is] within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law.
And [that] their children, which have not known [any thing], may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, ” Deuteronomy 31:10-13 KJV

“JUBILE YEAR”

“ Certain classes of Hebrew slaves--all who did not receive their liberty in the sabbatical year--were now set free{PP 533.}

“Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth [day] of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout [all] the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you;” Leviticus 25:9-10 KJV

“All the ceremonies of the Jewish law were prophetic, typical of mysteries in the plan of redemption.” 6BC 1095.5

“The living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake.... Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest.” Mar 287.5

“THESE TYPES WERE FULFILLED,NOT ONLY
AS TO THE EVENT, BUT AS TO THE TIME...IN LIKE MANNER...”

“As you give heed to the light you have, greater light will come.” From the Mount of Blessing, pp. 147-150. LHU 195.5

“There were symbols and shadowy types pointing to a Saviour to come; ... The sacrificial system was designed to typify the Saviour, who was to become the perfect offering for sinful man.” ST, June 3, 1886 par. 1

“...the shadowy services of the former dispensation were no longer of any value,--when type had met antitype in the death of Christ,...” RH, September 14, 1886 par. 14

“These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which, for fifteen long centuries, the passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the passover with his disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate his own death as “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. That same night he was taken by wicked hands, to be crucified and slain. And as the antitype of the wave-sheaf, our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day, “the first-fruits of them that slept,” [1 Corinthians 15:20.]. . .
In like manner, the types which relate to the second advent must be fulfilled at the time pointed out in the symbolic service. Under the Mosaic system, the cleansing of the sanctuary, or the great day of atonement, occurred on the tenth day of the seventh Jewish month, [Leviticus 16:29-34.]. . .” GC88 399, PP539.4 RH, November 22, 1892 par. 7

The time of test is just upon us, for the loud cry of the third angel has already begun in the revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin-pardoning Redeemer. This is the beginning of the light of the angel whose glory shall fill the whole earth. For it is the work of every one to whom the message of warning has come, to lift up Jesus, to present Him to the world as revealed in types, as shadowed in symbols, as manifested in the revelations of the prophets, as unveiled in the lessons given to His disciples and in the wonderful miracles wrought for the sons of men. Search the Scriptures; for they are they that testify of Him. 1SM 362.4

“These truths, as presented in Revelation 14, in connection with the “everlasting gospel,” will distinguish the church of Christ at the time of his appearing. For as the result of the threefold message it is announced, “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” And this message is the last to be given before the coming of the Lord. Immediately following its proclamation, the Son of man is seen by the prophet, coming in glory to reap the harvest of the earth.” GC88 453, 454.

“The people of God everywhere are to be aroused to co-operate in the great, grand work represented by the first, second, and third angel's messages. This last warning to the inhabitants of the earth is to make men see the importance God attaches to his holy law. So plainly is the truth to be presented, that no transgressor, hearing it, shall fail to discern the importance of obedience to the Sabbath commandment.” RH, March 26, 1908

“The first, second, and third angels' messages are to be repeated. The call is to be given to the church: "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." RH, October 31, 1899 par. 11

“My mind was carried to the future, when the signal will be given. "Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him." But some will have delayed to obtain the oil for replenishing their lamps, and too late they will find that character, which is represented by the oil, is not transferable. RH, February 11, 1896

“There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. "Why," they say, "should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?"--RH Extra, Dec. 23, 1890. LDE 209.3
“The third angel's message will not be comprehended, the light which will lighten the earth with its glory will be called a false light, by those who refuse to walk in its advancing glory.”--RH May 27, 1890. LDE 210.1

“And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth [day] of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout [all] the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you:” Leviticus 25:8-11. KJV

“And when the never-ending blessing was pronounced on those who had honored God in keeping His Sabbath holy, there was a mighty shout of victory over the beast and over his image.
Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest. I saw the pious slave rise in triumph and victory and shake off the chains that bound him, while his wicked master was in confusion and knew not what to do; for the wicked could not understand the words of the voice of GodEW 34,35.

“And as God spoke the day and the hour of Jesus' coming, and delivered the everlasting covenant to His people, He spoke one sentence, and then paused, while the words were rolling through the earth. The Israel of God stood with their eyes fixed upward, listening to the words as they came from the mouth of Jehovah, and rolled through the earth like peals of loudest thunder. It was awfully solemn. And at the end of every sentence the saints shouted, "Glory! Alleluia" Their countenances were lighted up with the glory of God; and they shone with the glory, as did the face of Moses when he came down from Sinai. The wicked could not look on them for the glory. And when the never-ending blessing was pronounced on those who had honored God in keeping His Sabbath holy, there was a mighty shout of victory over the beast and over his image.
Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest. I saw the pious slave rise in triumph and victory, and shake off the chains that bound him, while his wicked master was in confusion, and knew not what to do; for the wicked could not understand the words of the voice of God.” {CET 95-96}

He spoke one sentence, and then paused, while the words were rolling through the earth. The Israel of God stood with their eyes fixed upward, listening to the words as they came from the mouth of Jehovah and rolled through the earth like peals of loudest thunder. It was awfully solemn. At the end of every sentence the saints shouted, "Glory! Hallelujah!
The living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake.... Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest.” {Mar 287.5}

A glorious light shone upon them [the saints]. How beautiful they then looked! All marks of care and weariness were gone, and health and beauty were seen in every countenance. Their enemies, the heathen around them, fell like dead men; they could not endure the light that shone upon the delivered, holy ones. This light and glory remained upon them, until Jesus was seen in the clouds of heaven.
And I saw a flaming cloud come where Jesus stood. Then Jesus . . . took His place on the cloud which carried Him to the East, where it first appeared to the saints on earth--a small black cloud which was the sign of the Son of man. While the cloud was passing from the Holiest to the East, which took a number of days, the synagogue of Satan worshipped at the saints' feet. Mar 287. 6,7

“ Opposition is the lot of all whom God employs to present truths specially applicable to their time. There was a present truth in the days of Luther,—a truth at that time of special importance; there is a present truth for the church today. He who does all things according to the counsel of his will, has been pleased to place men under various circumstances, and to enjoin upon them duties peculiar to the times in which they live, and the conditions under which they are placed. If they would prize the light given them, broader views of truth would be opened before them. But truth is no more desired by the majority today than it was by the papists who opposed Luther. There is the same disposition to accept the theories and traditions of men instead of the Word of God as in former ages. Those who present the truth for this time should not expect to be received with greater favor than were earlier reformers. The great controversy between truth and error, between Christ and Satan, is to increase in intensity to the close of this world's history.” GC88 143.3

“We are to listen to the voice of Christ speaking in the creation of the world and from the pillar of cloud, for our eternal welfare depends upon our obedience to the voice of God. Let all move guardedly. Let us not pass by anything that Christ has given through the holy people of old for the benefit of every generation. CTr 188.5
All that God’s mind has planned, that His hand has touched, are lessons written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come. Those things that have been will be. Christ’s words of approval or disapproval come sounding down along the line of our time. Our spiritual and eternal interests are involved in the facts stated. The Lord means what He says, and says what He means.”—Letter 34, 1899. CTr 188.6

:thumbsup:“In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. But it is the light which shines in the freshunfolding of truth that glorifies the old:idea:. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form.” COL 127, 128 EGW. .:amen:

.:thumbsup:......Quotes from Ellen G. White. ........:thumbsup:

"In regard to infallibility, I NEVER claimed it; God ALONE is Infallible." Selected Messages, Book One, pp 415 and 37

"Let no one come to the conclusion that there is no more truth to be revealed. The diligent, prayerful seeker for truth will find precious rays of light yet to shine forth from the word of God." Counsels on Sabbath School Work, p. 34

"There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make an error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. Review and Herald, December 20,1892

"We cannot hold that a position once taken, an idea once advocated, is not, under any circumstances, to be relinquished. There is but One who is infallible --- He is the way, the truth, and the life.

"If the pillars of our faith will not stand the test of investigation, it is time we knew it." Testimonies to Ministers, pp 105 and 107

"The Bible and the Bible alone, is our creed, the sole bond of union; all who bow to this holy Word will be in harmony . . . Man is fallible, but God's Word is infallible.

"We have many lessons to learn, and many, many to unlearn. God and heaven alone are infallible. Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed.

"In regard to infallibility, I never claimed it; God alone is infallible. His word is true, and in Him is no variableness, or shadow of turning." Selected Messages, Book One, pp. 416 and 37.

"Our position and faith is in the Bible. . . . And never do we want any soul to bring in the Testimonies ahead of the Bible." Evangelism, p. 256

“We are not to accept the opinion of commentators as the voice of God; they are erring mortals like ourselves. God has given reasoning powers to us as well as to them. We should make the Bible its own expositor.

“We must study the truth for ourselves. No man should be relied upon to think for us. No matter who he is, or in what position he may be placed, we are not to look upon any man as a criterion for us. Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 106 and 110

“Whatever may be man’s intellectual advancement, let him not for a moment think that there is no need of thorough and continuous searching of Scripture for greater light. As a people we are called individually to be students of prophecy. We must watch with earnestness that we may discern any ray of light which God shall present to us. We are to catch the first gleamings of truth; and through prayerful study, clearer light may be obtained, which can be brought to others.

“Some of our leading brethren have frequently taken their position on the wrong side: and if God would send a message and wait for these older brethren to open the way for its advancement, it would never reach the people.

“The rebuke of the Lord will rest upon those who would bar the way, that clearer light shall not come to the people. . . . Let no one run the risk of interposing between the people and the message of heaven.” Gospel Workers, pp 300, 303, and 304.

A spirit of pharisaism has been coming in upon the people who claim to believe the truth for these last days. They are self-satisfied. They have said, “We have the truth. There is no more light for the people of God. But we are not safe when we take the position that we will not accept anything else than that upon which we have settled as truth. We should take the Bible, and investigate it closely for ourselves. We should dig in the mine of God’s word for truth.” Review and Herald, June 18, 1888.

We need to begin all over again. . . . Errors may be hoary with age; but age dos not make error truth, nor truth error. Altogether too long have the old customs and habits been followed. The Lord would now have every idea that is false put away from teachers and students. We are not at liberty to teach that which shall meet the world’s standard or the standard of the church, simply because it is the custom to do so.” Testimonies for the Church, vol 6, p. 142. ..........:preach:

I need some help, someone on facebook asked where the below info is found in the bible.

Eve was created from a rib taken from the side of Adam, signifying that she was not to control him as the head, nor to be trampled under his feet as an inferior, but to stand by his side as an equal, to be loved and protected by him. A part of man, bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh, she was his second self, showing the close union and the affectionate attachment that should exist in this relation. EGW

Any help would be appreciated.:)

Thanks, so the rest is EGW commentary. I will tell him but I suspect he doesn't trust miss whites words which is ok it guess. I mean she did say to look to the bible first anyway before her. She's mainly the guide to help us understand scriptures more because god gave her that insight so that we would know more during our generation.

^_^First we need to know why God used a rib? Luckily some long lost text has been found that answers this question. Translation is some what tough, but goes somewat like this. God says,"Adam I'm going to make a wife for you out of your body." Adam ask,"What is she going to cost me :confused:?" God says,"A arm and a leg." Adam objects, then asks,"Is there a body part that will grow back?" God says,"Your liver and your lower rib will." Adam thinks a bit then ask,"What can I get for a lower rib." God then puts Adam into a deep sleep :sleep:.....Now we know Adam was the first Jew. ^_^. Women has always had the best hand writing, the theory goes one of those women scribes omitted this text. Well now we know why are sides hurt when we laugh. Hope you had a good one! It's a mystery why Ellen White never speaks a word about this :scratch::confused: Sence Adam would not pay,"A arm and a leg" for his wife, we do! I had better keep anonymous, or I'm dead.

:)I heard a Christian lecturer suggest that the rib is the only bone in the body that can regenerate if it is removed. Naturally, the implication is that this, if true is a possible reason that God removed one of Adam's ribs to make Eve rather than another bone. Of course, if God could make Eve from one of Adam's ribs, He could regenerate any bone.
I set out to find out of this is true by searching the internet. There is surprisingly little information on the subject. What follows are three anecdotal stories that suggest that the rib can grow back-if care is taken.

Regenerating Ribs
Adam and that 'missing' rib, by Carl Wieland

Creation Ex Nihilo 21, SeptemberNovember 1999
A head-on impact with a fully laden fuel tanker at highway speeds is an experience I would hope for none to share. The surprise was to have survived itGod clearly had other plans for me.

expulsion.jpg

During the 5 1/2 months in hospital, and for years afterwards, I had a series of operations to reconstruct various parts of me, particularly the bones of my face.
These operations often required using my own bone for grafting. I noticed that the plastic surgeon would keep going back to the right side of my ribcage, through the same horizontal scar, actually, to get more bone for these procedures.
One day, I asked him why he hadn't 'run out of bone'. He looked at me blankly, and then explained that he and his team took the whole rib out, each time. 'We leave the periosteum intact, so the rib usually just grows right back again.'
Despite having trained and practiced as a family doctor, I was intrigued; I had never realized this before. The periosteum (the literal meaning of this word is 'around the bone') is a membrane that covers every boneit's the reason you can get things stuck between your teeth while gnawing on a leg of lamb, for instance.
The periosteum contains cells that can manufacture new bone. Particularly in young people, 'rib periosteum has a remarkable ability to regenerate bone, perhaps more so than any other bone'.
Thoracic (chest) surgeons routinely remove ribs, and these often grow back, in whole or in part. A lot depends on the care with which the rib is removed; it needs to be 'peeled' out of its periosteum to leave this membrane as intact as possible.
A major reason why the rib is the ideal situation for such regeneration is that the attached intercostal muscles provide it with a good blood supply. When the surgeon originally told me this, my immediate thought was'Wow, that's really neat, Adam didn't have to walk around with a defect!'

<B>
In Genesis 2:21, referring to the creation of Eve, we read: 'And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. And He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh underneath.'
</B>

Surprisingly, some Christians have grown up believing that men have one less rib than women. They have the same number, of course. Some anti-creationists have used the fact that men don't have any missing ribs today to mock a literal Genesis.
For years before my accident, when asked about this, I would give a reply something like this:
'If your father had lost his finger in a circular saw, would you really expect all his children to have one less finger, too? Or all of his sons, but not his daughters? Of course not. The DNA instructions that are passed on from parent to child are in the form of a code, like writing&#65533;removing a rib (or finger) would not change the instructions on the code, so all the offspring will have all their ribs (or fingers).'
While all that is still very true and pertinent, this information about rib regrowth adds a new and fascinating dimension. God designed the rib, along with the periosteum.
He would certainly have known how to remove the rib in such a way that it would later grow back, just as ribs still do today&#65533;without requiring any sort of special miracle.
Adam would not have had any permanent area of weakness in his rib cage, but would have had, for all of the hundreds of years of his life, the same number of ribs that you and I have today.
whitespacer.gif

Another Story of Regeneration
...The good news is that I will go in first thing in the morning and be able to come home the same day. At first he said they'd do the surgery in the OR they have in the basement of their offices.
He looked at our faces and said, "Well, maybe it would be better to do it at the hospital." I was like, "definitely!" There's no way I want to be in the basement of a doctor's office if something goes wrong.
This is a general anesthesia procedure - I mean I'm having my freaking rib removed! I'll take the OR at the real hospital, thank you very much.
Speaking of having my rib taken out... Get this: He said that most likely my rib will GROW BACK. How whacky is that? I had no idea that your ribs could regenerate! Why can't arms and legs do that???
whitespacer.gif

Final Story of Regeneration
"I had a rib removed when I was 16. Because it was grinding on my hip, due to my bottom curve, The Dr's did it because of the pain,, But within 5 years the rib grew back.
It is not as hard as the one we cut out,, (bone grows back more like cartilige) softer but now it has grown two points like a fork or a deer antler. but it dosen't bother me. and there was really no recovery time, I was only in the hospital for the surgery. and I was up and walking the 2nd day I was home." ...Scoliosis World Message Board

The Church of God (Seventh-day) reports a visit to some of the churches Elder Rupert had overseen in South America: “An S.D.A. minister, G.G. Rupert brought with him the belief that the annual Sabbaths, in addition to the weekly Sabbath, are important for Christians to understand and to observe. This impacted upon sections of the Church of God, a few were already observing those days. During his time with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the late nineteenth century, he performed missionary work in parts of South America. Years later, in the 1960's, Worldwide Church of God ministers stumbled across many of these scattered remnants of Rupert's missionary work. They never associated with any other Sabbatarian group, but continued to faithfully observe Sabbath, and in many cases, the annual Sabbaths. The Churches of God today have a Seventh-day Adventist elder to thank for bringing the annual Sabbaths.“ From an article entitled, “Sabbatarian Groups -- A Scattered and Little Flock“www.giveshare.org/hrp/Scattered%20flock.htm. Today, a third set of 40 years, that is about 120 years have gone by and Torah sensitive S.D.A.'s are appearing in the U.S. as well as in several of other countries around the globe. Positive books have been written by Adventist authors such as;

1) Paul the Feast Keeper and the National Sunday Law, by Merwin Abbott.
2) Armageddon and the National Sunday Law, by Richard and Melody Drake.
3) God's Holidays, by Richard and Melody Drake,
4) An Innovative Approach to Holy History, by John VanDenburgh and his most recent book, New Discoveries from Old Manuscripts.

Dr Kellog ended up believing in pantheistic theories and taught them in and outside our church... does that mean that SDA's believe in pantheism?? No, but a number that left the faith do... Dr. Ford also had erroneous beliefs outside what Adventism taught... sadly his poison has managed to infiltrate Adventism along with Jesuit heresy's of feminism, liberalism and spiritualism...

The fact is, that these men and their theories do not represent what Adventism is... it just shows that there are a lot of tares growing up with the wheat.
