Terry Pratchett dead at 66: Author's death announced in Discworld-esque tweet | Metro News

Best-selling author Sir Terry Pratchett has died at the age of 66.
Sir Terry, who wrote more than 70 best-selling novels, waged a very public struggle with Alzheimer’s disease in recent years.
His publisher Penguin Random House said he ‘passed away in his home, with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family’.
He completed his last book – set like so many of his best-sellers in his creation of Discworld – last year.

what a legend. If you are even remotely a fan of science fiction/Fantasy, then you've read at least one Terry Pratchett novel.

And if you have not, I highly recommend you read one. They are hilarious!!!!

Not really. Terry Pratchett has spent a good part of those last years while suffering from Alzheimer concerned with questions of assisted dying. He even made a TV documentary about this. It is part of his legacy, just like discworld.

Sad to hear. I am re-reading the death trilogy at the moment as it happens. I love that he was not afraid to copy others in places. He made it so obvious that he was copying that one really didn't mind. Those bits did really add to the story and his own ideas.
