The bible says to not strain at a gnat, but a parable is not a gnat ;)

What? The Bible doesn't teach that we came to know right from wrong? That we have a sinful nature that is passed along from parent to child?

The bible teaches we came to know "right from wrong"...as you put it....because of an act of disobedience.
Your heretical theology teaches we evolved the ability to know right from wrong.

Any unbiblical teaching would be heretical. God said He made Eve from Adams rib.....you disagree with the bible. Your theology is unbiblical.
The Bible says the rivers clap their hands. If you don't believe this literally either, in the same way you are not disagreeing with the Bible, just as you are not disagreeing with the Bible if you don't take Genesis 2 literally.

It's the SAME THING. The myth represents with symbols the truth about our humanity.

@-57 This marks the third time that I have affirmed that Eve was made from Adam's rib.

I most certainly don't teach that. Addressing a strawman with my name on it, does not guarantee my response in the future.

Wow, talk about being way out of context.

Let me say it again because you obviously didn't get it the first time:

"The bible teaches we came to know "right from wrong"...as you put it....because of an act of disobedience.
Your heretical theology teaches we evolved the ability to know right from wrong."

They are not the same thing.

@-57 - I do not teach that we evolved the ability to know right from wrong, this makes no sense, in families it is easily disprovable ... where you have a good son and a bad son, both having the same genetics. Knowing right from wrong comes from the soul that God breathed into each person. People know right from wrong because of what causes harm and what doesn't, this is the basis of all the commandments, Paul even says this in Romans 13.
.
When people are born again by the Holy Spirit of God, this is not evolution, spiritual maturity is not evolution, it is growth.
.
When people are renewed by the transformation of their minds, this is not evolution, it is learning to walk in the new life.

Oh, I've got the context clear. Figurative speech is figurative speech, whether it is the metaphor of a poem, the symbolic character of a parable or the deep myth of a creation story.

One should beware of the person who turns the bible into...figurative speech, metaphor, poem, parable or a myth.

Did Jesus really die on the cross? The answer is no. Did Jesus really raise from the dead on day three? Once again the answer is no. Have all of our sins actually been imputed to Jesus? Once again the answer is no....the Gospel story is nothing more than a figurative speech, metaphor, poem, parable or a myth.

...after all, the rivers clap their hands.

Don't be silly. The idea is to read the passage for the genre that it is. A parable story is fiction that is meant to teach something heavenly. Jesus dying on the cross is the genre of history. It is just as much a problem with reading comprehension to say that Jesus dying on the cross is metaphor as to say that a parable is history. In fact, even if you don't personally believe in the resurrection, you would still have to say that the author means it as history. Learning to tell the difference between genres as part of reading comprehension is a skill you learned in school.

And the author of Genesus meant it as history....and the authors of the NT presented the accounts presented in Genesis as history.

In fact Paul even based his teaching on women in church on the historical deception of a literal Eve.
