This was a hott topic on one of the radio morning shows today...
a guy dumped his new girlfriend because she was texting him
from church about their recent hookup.
Well, yeah that is pretty trashy.

So the radio show hosts were arguing amongst themselves
and with callers about whether or not it's ok to text in church.
Some think it is if it's about the sermon or something really important
like someone's trying to get directions.
Other people think it's absolutely not ok.
No one thinks you should text about nasty/personal/gossipy stuff when you're in church.

What does everyone here think?
I'm making a poll.

Personally, I think it's ok if someone is asking an important question
like "hey I'm on the road and I can't find the exit where is it?"
But you shouldn't just sit there eating up data the whole time the pastor is talking.
But personally, my church is in a dead-zone... a semi-rural part on the outskirts of town where my phone seldom even gets or sends texts successfully because it hardly has one bar. It's not just the church, the whole area for about 2 miles is like that.

Some people disagree with texting in church.

Others follow the Bible reading with an e-book, which can look as if they are texting in church.

Others rudely chat in church during the preaching.

Others chat with their friends by texting in church.

Others provide interpretation for Hispanic and other English learners, which looks as if they are chatting in church, but is actually a good service.

Others are showing their neighbor in the pew their Bible references that the preacher is talking about.

Others are showing their neighbor in the pew their Bible verse tattoos on their wrists.

Others are showing their neighbor in the pew their tribal tattoos on their wrists.

The advice of the State Department is relevant: "Before deciding what to do about it, you better first figure what all is going on over there."
