thats not a witness tool.
Thats a scary looking torture instrument punched into an ear.

I think I'm gonna stick with rainbows in the sky as a sign of God's love for the whole earth.
A lot of Christians do wear faith related jewelry, anyway.

True.
I guess it's more for their own personal adornment rather than to show off to anyone else though. I remember once giving a girl I knew in high school little gold cross earrings for her birthday, cos she had her ears pierced and I knew she was a christian, as her parents were missionaries. But..upon reading the Bible the part about not being adorned with pearls and costly array, but good works instead..I kinda wonder NOW if she thought I was nuts giving her gold jewellery crosses when she already knew she was a christian! (I wasn't one back then). She would make little fimo jewellery for everyone, I remember though, she made me a dolphin. I think she actually did make little fashion crosses the kind they wore back in the 90s when it was cool. But we were teenagers so..we tried to look cool all the time.

I think the whole tattoo thing is a need for identity more than anything...and some people wish to put their heart on their sleeve. But that can kinda get you in trouble! Besides, its not the outer appearance that counts but the heart and the inner witness. That being said....

Does wearing faith related angel wings count as a witness? I wore them when I went out carolling.

Funny thing though..many people say angels actually don't have wings.

*It wouldn't matter because I love(agape) the person, I don't have to agree or like their permanent tats...
just like relatives
who don't like or agree with me for not having my hair chemically relaxed,
they still love(agape) me.
BFine: Do you think your hesitation about permanent tattoos - whether faith based or not - are because of friends of yours who have regretted their tattoos?

Goodbook:

My wife and I talked to a young lady who had the whole of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area; it was her favorite text and mine also; I'm sure other conversations have arisen also as a result of her decision to become tattooed with Scripture ink; maybe it's partly a pragmatic decision to go what works as a conversation-starter.

Blessings.

Since you have already gotten "inked"-- and are finding out
how others feel about tattoos...it's going to be a mixed bag
when it comes to how others feel about tattoos.

I don't have any tats... I use to like tattoos that aren't "permanent" --
I could change up as often as I wanted.
They usually lasted a couple of weeks... nowadays they have
those that last longer.

I know many Christians who have permanent tattoos, some of them are members
of my own family... I wasn't pleased when I saw that my nephews had
gotten those wrap-around type tats...it's starts at their face, tilts down to
their necks and shoulders(or something like that)... the tats are as they
say: "faith-based".
They are young but I wonder how they will like them when they are much
older and the tats have been altered by body changes?

I've been around tattooed people since I was a little girl growing up in the 1970's.
Granted, none of those people were Christians and at that time believers didn't
get "inked" since they didn't want to look like "the world".
It's ironic that now, Christian (with tats) say their tats are witnessing tools?
So, I ask them, how many people (that noticed your tattoo) have come to know
the Lord as their own personal Savior?
Their silence lingers on.
That's my current experience with Christians who have faith-based tattoos.

witnessing tools?
It starts with learning the Word of God/ being discipled...so you can be a
good witness...then you go and Live out the faith/uphold God's Word in your life--
show agape/love to others, share the Good News of the Gospel, forgive those
who offend you, take care of the "least of these", visit the sick/shut-ins,
comfort/encourage people, visit those who are in prison etc...all that
makes for fine "witnessing tools".

John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as
I have loved you, that you also love one another.
"By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
BFine:

Good points there; we need to concentrate on the inward and spiritual, and not just the outward manifestation of a faith symbol, etc.

I guess this isn't necessarily an argument against wearing a Christian fish sign <>< pendant or set of earrings, of course. Or for that matter a similarly designed tattoo.

Blessings.
