1. The highway system
2. The US Department of Agriculture ARS
3. Clean water systems
4. Medicare
5. The National Institutes of Health
6. The National Science Foundation
7. The FDA
8. Rural Electrification
(ad infinitum)

The fact that these folks have to go back to the earliest days of the 20th century to find the horror of creeping socialism means they don't understand history, not one little bit. Either that or they think the Gilded Age would be just peachy keen. At which point they also show they don't understand statistics...because statistically they would likely have been living a short brutish life in a crowded diseased filled tenament building working for pennies.

The EPA's storage of pure evil. Or maybe it was the Gold King mine. The GKM was abandoned in the 1920's and the upper part of the Animas was contaminated and rendered devoid of fish. The GKM is only one of 22,000 abandoned mines in the state.

Nighthawkeye might not be familiar with what a MINE is...so here's a simple explanation it is a for-profit enterprise often undertaken in the era before groups like the EPA without any real oversight or care about what mess they left behind.

The GKM and other mine wastes were simply left over. GKM was a superfund site and the EPA was contracting people to clean it up.

But, hey, when debating a Conservative on the "environment" facts won't make much difference.
