Spend a little time, and a little cash, at Hobby Lobby this Saturday...

I seriously doubt this sign is posted on any customer entrance of Hobby Lobby. If it is, don't understand why exactly.

***Edited to add that I meant to imply/ask if it was positively on the storefont where customers enter***

Some people just don't know how to differentiate between "well wishes" and "permission."

I was telling you to enjoy yourselves.

Craft stores are fun. Hobby Lobby is fun to browse in. They have lots of flowers, lots of fabric for sewing projects.

I will continue to shop at Hobby Lobby when I am working on crafts projects--but I don't believe in shopping just for the sake of shopping.

I linked the 40% off one item coupon because I thought maybe someone could use it. I put a mobile coupon app on my Iphone after seeing it in AARP Magazine--Coupon Sherpa--and they always have Hobby Lobby and Michael's coupons (for those of you who are crafters).

I like Hobby Lobby and Michaels. Hobby Lobby is a little more convenient. I have also read that they treat their employees well and pay good wages, so they are worth supporting.

Oh, but Avila, they don't have guns...that's not the kind of hobby they deal in.

Yet another good reason to support them :)

I could buy crafts in Wal-Mart, but I'd have to walk past the gun section first. Ugh!

Michie,

It seems to me that you are questioning my honesty. I am sorry that you do not find me to be a creditable witness.

I admit that I have not been to the Hobby Lobby near my home since I saw that notice. It definitely was there the last time I was there. Tomorrow, I will stop by and see if the notice is still posted and, if it is, I will snap a cell phone picture.

No, I am not questioning your honesty. I'm questioning why given the lawsuit Hobby Lobby is in the midst of that if these signs are popping up why has it not been mentioned in the media?

I have never seen one on a storefront & it is obviously directed to employees. Why is it where customers enter?

Most businesses have this policy but why is it on only certain storefronts? Is there a reason?

That is my questioning.

I want to know the story before jumping to conclusions.

You saw what you saw but I'm sorry, I cannot figure out why an employee notice be would be on a storefront.

I stopped by the Hobby Lobby that is five blocks from my home this afternoon and they do, in fact, have this sign at the front entrance.

I disagree that it is directed at employees. It specifically states that it applies to anyone entering the premises:

text of Hobby Lobby notice:

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Company retains the right to Search and Question Any Person Entering the Premises

Any personal belongings may be searched, including but not limited to: packages, parcels, purses, handbags, briefcases, lunch boxes and automobiles in the parking lot. Any Company property may also be searched, including desks, files, lockers,or any other area on the premises.

Persons entering the premises who refuse to cooperate with this policy will be escorted from the premises.

Employees refusing to cooperate with this policy may be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.

A mile or so from the Hobby Lobby is a Michael's. They sell much the same type of craft supplies that Hobby Lobby does, and they do not reserve the right to search my person, belongings or private automobile. I will spend my money there.

I'm just dumbfounded. I'd love to know why certain stores are posting these signs & others not. I'd call the manager to find out. This is the norm for employees but customers? Bizarre.

I would not consent to a warrentless search for any reason at all. If I was detained for such a search, I would be on the phone to my lawyer (who is also my sister in law) immediately. If an attempt was made by some random store manager to forcibly search or detain me, there would be consequences.

I think most would feel the same. I'm really curious about this though. I'm surprised the media has not picked up on it.

I wonder why some people post at all. If all you're going to do is say "no" and be backed up by your sarcastic cheerleader well the internet has a word for that.

If you don't want to shop at Hobby Lobby you could easily say why. One word comments seem snarky.....
At least people are posting why or why not. I don't know why some people have accounts and never post anything of substance... Oh wait I do......I forget the word....rhymes with rolling.

And I despise unions as most of them are not pro-life. I will not be one to support public unions at least.

And Hitler probably would not shop at Hobby Lobby. Pro-life is opposite of Margaret Sanger, his own inspiration.

Washington D.C., Jan 5, 2013 / 04:03 pm (CNA).- More than 64,000 people throughout the U.S. have signed up to support Hobby Lobby on Jan. 5 for risking millions of dollars in profit to follow its Christian principles.

A Facebook page dedicated to supporting the arts and crafts retailer called on “all Americans who value freedom of religion and oppose the HHS Mandate's unfair impositions” to support the company on Jan. 5 by shopping at either their local Hobby Lobby store or online.

Tens of thousands pledge support for Hobby Lobby...

Hence user title is noob. However in a short time here I've already learned who uses sarcasm as a vice and who is just plain rude.

Yeah, it takes a little back story.

Cos and a few others are battling the windmills of random Nazism comparisons. We get a little fed up with the constant lying and twisting of facts and denying the undeniable. When even demonstrable facts are brushed off with melodramatic wailing, honest debate becomes rather futile and these childish tactics will be met with some degree of cynicism.

Had you been around enough long enough, though, you would know irony is more my thing and Cos is more with the abstract absurdism.

Have you ever worked in retail? I have. Trust me, if they stop you and search you, 99.9999% of the time you're a thief. Your lawyer can't help you then, warrant or no.

Are you saying that every place that is unionized is busy making things? I clicked on Pharmacies there, since I work at one, and I saw some, but does that mean everything sold at those Pharmacies are union made? I would think not. But I could be wrong. Could you give me a head's up?

In other words, is buying union synonymous with buying American?
