I recently met someone who is into "sozo ministry" and considers themself a "sozo counselor" and speaks of "sozo sessions," "sozoing someone," "the sozoee," etc.
I did a little research on it, finding the word is the Greek transliteration of "to save" or "to heal" or "to make whole," etc.
They are apparently non-professional "counseling sessions" designed to "heal" or release from bondage the "sozoee."
Initially, it sounded quite weird to me - not so much what they were doing, which sounds like basic discipleship counseling in my world, but the weirdness was more around the adoption and frequent use of the terminology, which suggests to me something of a bit of concern - though I can't put my finger on exactly what.
Has anyone encountered this? What are your thoughts on it?
