Ok, number one is Mother Therese a Saint yet?

Two, anyone know the process?

Three, IS there a certain way to pick a patron Saint?

And four, can we cross Catholic and Orthodox Saints to be patrons?

I am asking for someone else...and I said many times, I myself never picked a patron Saint. And I am sure we just pick one...but is there a prayer or something in choosing one?

I am myself leaning towards St Pio...but its still up in the air.

Mother Therese has been beatified and is therefore Blessed Theresa of Calcutta--the next step is canonization.

There's no right or wrong way to pick a saint :)

Post-schism Orthodox saints are not venerated by the universal Church. That being said, we do share a lot saints from pre-schism so a particular eastern saint may be venerated by us too.

Thanks Quanta.

Had to run to girl scouts. And now am off to give my lil ones baths. :D

Ok, I didnt think Mother Therese made it to canonization yet. I wonder when that will happen.

Ok, no post schism Saints are recognised. But I wonder if EO's can choose a Catholic Saint.

I guess privately they can.

I picked a Patron Saint when I was Confirmed into the Church in 1999 (hence my username). I picked St. Padre Pio (even though he was only beatified a couple days after my Confirmation - my priest said okay since it was so obvious that he would soon be canonized - which he was).

Good question, Quanta. ;)

I wonder that too. :) Or they can certainly pray to them to help. After all, we know on the way to being canonized, 'Saints' to be...have helped assist in miracles.
