Why Didn’t We Fire The Chicago Teachers And Start Over? : Personal Liberty Digest™

This periodical is SUPPOSED to be a libertarian publication. But they are clearly in the tank for Romney.

They are antiunion, and while I don't wholly agree with unions as I believe each man who holds a job should be accountable for his/her performance in that job, I suppose some of my "libertarian" brothers and sisters are of the belief that only the rich should gain during economic decline. Apparently you do not understand the Libertarian party. They have nothing whatsoever to do with liberalism despite the similarity of the words. They are much farther right on most issues than the Republican party. Their end goal is the virtual abolition of government. Their immediate strategy is to reduce government to only those elements enumerated in the Constitution. That means, of course, only an excise (customs) office for taxes and a military. All else is out the window, including education.

They mildly tolerate Romney because he is somewhat more in line with their view than Obama.

You can't be a libertarian and NOT support Gary Johnson, Ron Paul or Jesse Ventura.

To promote another candidate is hypocrisy. Livingston and his cohorts sold me on the idea of smaller govt and tax accountability(closing loopholes and taking back Romney's 77K subsidy for his wife's show horse ROFL).

I subscribed b/c I subscribe to their knowledge of knowing that both the L and the R are in cahoots with the banksters and the corporations and are creating a fascist police state. Now, they are clearly apart of that. As is that Alex Jones.

I don't know, after seeing the replacement ref's of the NFL should we fire the teachers?

I must admit though, it is entertaining to watch a football game today, never know when or why a flag was thrown. (as long as it isn't on my team).

Sounds like he's not the only one who doesn't understand the Libertarian Party.

We don't want the abolition of government and, outside of an MSNBC charicature, you won't find one Libertarian who believes in the abolition of government.

Who was the propaganda arm of the White House from 2001-2009? I would guess it being Fox.

Libertarians have a out dated mindset concerning 21st century issues. They will never be any real contender in national politics.

Yeah, that must be why its top three hosts (Beck, Napolitano, Stossel) were Libertarians who hammered Bush on a daily basis.

OK. I'll bite: how is Libertarians' mindset "outdated"? Are liberty and prosperity no longer good things?

OK, I get it. It's the media propagating that the libertarian party is about govt abolition. You used MSNBC as an example, but depending on which surrogates are trying to squash the little truth bug(Paul, Ventura, Johnson, etc) decides which media outlet is going to be used.

I like Bill O. But he's been used far too often to as the truth squasher.
    Here's a quick example......

Bill Oreilly Panics After Ron Paul Brings Up 1953 Iran Coup by US and UK.flv - YouTube

And in a later post you cite a true libertarian, Stossel, and somehow manage to include the name Beck in the same sentence. To a libertarian, Beck SHOULD be considered a greater threat than even Bin Laden. He is essentially promoting a global theocracy with his god, Mitt Romney as it's dictator.:sorry:

Define liberty. To do as one pleases as long as not to cause harm to another? If that is what liberty is, then it is a selfish idea to follow. For as a collective national community we citizens are to support each other through safe public works, good commerce, strong defense, etc. America became a great nation by it's people collectively working together, not by each going their own way. Libertarians are like herding cats, while all others(Republican/Democrat) know that a national collective effort must be achieved. There are difference of opinions in achieving those goals but it is a 'collective action'.

Prosperity: Many definitions of what prosperity means , like the American Dream. My view on prosperity contains these; collectivism, spirituality and health. Not capitalistic greed and wealth that comes from unbridled commerce. How do you define it?

Healthcare: Kent Synder a true libertarian, no insurance, left mom with mega hospital bill.
A true Libertarian thought would be to stay home and die if they refuse to carry health insurance or have the funds on hand to pay their medical bill.
This is outrageous, and thank goodness for healthcare reform such as ObamaCare.

Defense: Libertarian would say bring the servicemen home and guard the homeland, which be ok if we lived a pre-intercontinental ballistic missile age. These days our defenses need every second to react quickly to war. Having them spread out over the globe is a great deterrent and decreases time to deploy, and helps increase the local economy of the host country which increases foreign support of our troops and USA.

Unrestricted banking: is another Libertarian plank. Even after the great disaster of an unregulated Wall St, we are suppose to believe that big banks, big corporations will do the right thing because competition will regulate business. Oh boy, that's a lark! Big boys with the most toys rule the game and set the rules when government isn't involved.
