The Bill of Rights came much later after the Declaration of Independance and Constitution. It's just something that liberals added on to muddy the waters like Roe vs Wade etc etc. Interment! Interment! Profiling! The enemy is among us! Learn from our brothers in Israel!
The Declaration of Independence has nothing to do with the government other than telling England that we wished to be independent.

The Constitution was made but was only ratified with the promise of a Bill of Rights by the First Congress so I don't understand your point, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights go hand in hand. In addition, many of the rights tha you love come from the fact that you have a Bill of Rights, so what's the sense in complaining.

As usual, the problem with these laws are the way they are used against citizens that are not lock and stock with the government.

I regard America as Bo and Luke Duke, Uncle Jesse and Daisy would regard the General Lee except with an America flag split-screened with the Southern flag! Song, song of the South, Sweet-potato pie and I shut my mouth Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again

The more America becomes a fortress and stops signing all these NAFTA and CAFTA the better. Wished Ross, a true Texas Tea man, had won in '02. He would have closed the boarder with a big long fence and kicked all these illegal Mexicans and Muslims out!

Democrats in the Senate voted unanimously for the Patriot Act because there was never a chance what the plutocrats who fund the party really wanted--an end to CIA and FBI cooperation--would be stripped from the bill.

Soros, Lewis, Bing, Eychaner, Sandler, Pritzker, Kushner et al could care less about the FBI asking what books someone read or infringing on the liberty of Joe Sixpack. Those were red herrings.

The plutocrats don't want the FBI and CIA poking around into and sharing information on the foreign business dealings of Oscar Wyatt, George Soros, Mark Rich and other Democratic Party supporters.

That is why 5 of them spent over $75 million trying to elect John Kerry. They wanted a new DOJ, a new Treasury and a new SEC. All their "we're losing our civil rights" rhetoric was cover for that.

If the Democratic Party wants the "Patriot Bill" out to cover its hide, then what about paleocons who are on the far right? For what personal reasons do they want it out?

I believe someone talked about Cheney forcing every member of the Senate to vote for it or he would hold them responsible for the next terrorist attack if it happens.

Someone said that, I know.

If that is true, then you're looking at a stripped down Adolph Hitler. If my memory is correct, Hitler threatened the Reichstag as supporting Communism if they did not collaborate with him? Sounds far too parallel.

Charles Kushner gave the DNC $1.4 million during the 2002 election cycle. Now he is headed to Federal prison. Don't think that rattled the plutocrats who fund the DNC?
Kushner was slated to take over the Port Authority of NY & NJ--a cash cow for someone with Kushner's background.

Ashcroft indicted and sent to prison more than a few untouchables.Yehuda Abraham and his associates were a present to Bush from Putin's FSB. Oscar Wyatt, Mark Rich and others are afriad there will be more.

But go ahead. Ignore what Soros did in Russia and Eastern Europe. Continue to believe he is a humanitarian who spent over $25 million last election because he believes in liberty.

Probably because Republicans have a track record of not giving our elected officials enough time to READ the bills they're passing.

Cheney seems like a brutal leader, every time I hear about him, it's something vicious.
Some have said it's really all about Cheney running a shadow government behind the scenes.

Don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it. Welcome to the United States of Halliburton. ;)

Voeglin - the Patriot Act could turn on you as well, just like sour milk. One never knows...

Yeah I know. Counterpunch, The Nation and the World Socialist Web Site have been saying that since it was first signed.

Same people who see nothing wrong with the IRS getting into people's bank accounts, with the EPA making property worthless, no problem with kids being coereced into government schools, same people who never saw an expansion of government power they didn't like (except this one, one which affects almost no one).

The Patriot Act rheotic has been all agitprop.

As I said, the left doesn't want their money trails exposed. They don't want the CIA and FBI sharing information. This goes all the way back to Carter when millions from foreign sources were funding the New Left.

Look at Mark Rich. A perfect example of what scares the left. He is the biggest tax cheat in American history. He was, until his wife gave money to the DNC, a fugitive. Think he isn't doing the same types of trades which led to his indictment? Of course he is. The left doesn't want it tracked.

Look at George Soros, the biggest donor to liberal (or any) causes in American history. He hides his Quantum fund in Curacao. No Americans are allowed to invest in it because Soros doesn't want the SEC and IRS poking around. Of course he hates the Patriot Act. Many of his 100 investors are Swiss bank accounts. The last thing Soros wants is for the FBI to find out from the CIA what his investors are up to.

Heaven forbid we enforce tax codes, protect the environment, and try to educate children.

Don't forget denying children the opportunity to go to a private school via vouchers if their families wouldn't have the money otherwise.

And Voegelin, if the Democratic Party wants the "Patriot Bill" out to cover its hide, then what about paleocons who are on the far right? For what personal reasons do they want it out?
