Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine researchers reviewed hundreds of scientific papers on homosexuality and transgenderism. They determined that many popular views on LGBT issues, such as the idea that “gender identity is an innate, fixed property of human beings that is independent of biological sex,” are not supported by science.

They also found studies have consistently shown transgender individuals are at higher risk for

  • suicide attempts
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • substance abuse
  • and other health and mental health problems.

I noticed in the English newspaper guardian today had an article / opinion piece that tried to normalise bisexual relations, as a valid natural state without a shred of evidence except author opinon. And the moderators of a connected forum deleted any post that questioned it , or regarded it as aform of hedonism, because they considered any such challenge " homophobic"

The analogies between the state of our present civilisation and that just prior to the fall of the Roman Empire are sadly now startling.

Why are you so concerned about what other people are doing? Didn't Jesus say something about taking the plank out of your own eye before you look at the speck in someone else's? When you can live the perfect Christian life, then you have room to talk about someone else. Until then, work on yourself.

I remember when this was first published, it came under a great deal of criticism for the author's misrepresentation of published scientific papers.
Many of the claims made about mental health and transgender individuals comes from the study “Long-term follow-up of transsexual persons undergoing sex reassignment surgery: cohort study in Sweden,” by Cecilia Dhejne.

for example Mayer and McHugh state: "" A 2011 study at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden produced the most illuminating results yet regarding the transgendered [sic], evidence that should give advocates pause. The long-term study—up to 30 years—followed 324 people who had sex-reassignment surgery. The study revealed that beginning about 10 years after having the surgery, the transgendered [sic] began to experience increasing mental difficulties. Most shockingly, their suicide mortality rose almost 20-fold above the comparable nontransgender population. This disturbing result has as yet no explanation but probably reflects the growing sense of isolation reported by the aging transgendered [sic] after surgery. The high suicide rate certainly challenges the surgery prescription."

However the Dhejne study contains no such claims about suicide or mental difficulties. In fact that study showed that transgeder individuals who undergo gender reassignemtn surgery show no difference in suicidality and mental health issues in general.

Any negativity sends the homosexual community into a frenzy. Imagine how this statement in the report was received: "sexual desire may be fluid for a considerable number of individuals, especially among adolescents as they mature through the early stages of adult development."

When legislation is based on the false premise that sexual orientation is immutable, then it becomes our business.

It is everyone's business when the homosexual community tries to prevent vulnerable & confused adolescents from accessing help to eliminate or control sexual feelings that are contrary to their religious faith and Christian identity.

Research into "sexual fluidity" shows that stability tends to be more common than change, but change in sexual orientation does occur.

See research quoted in "Distribution of Sexual Desires and Changes Over Time".

From a Biblical perspective - which is what should concern Christians most - change is most assuredly possible. Paul specifically mentions homosexuals among those who have been changed by the saving power of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

And hundreds of online testimonies proclaim the truth of Paul's words!

Addressing this particular point:
Mayer and McHugh talk extensively about finding extrapolated from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health. "This prospective longitudinal study of a nationally representative sample of U.S. adolescents starting in grades 7–12 began during the 1994–1995 school year, and followed the cohort into young adulthood, with four follow-up interviews (referred to as Waves I, II, III, IV in the literature). The most recent was in 2007–2008, when the sample was aged 24–32."

Mayer and McHugh claim that this study shows significant changes in sexual orientation from wave I to wave IV. However the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health didn't ask the adolescents in wave I about their sexual orientation.

Why is that verse only used to attack other Christians in defiance of the verse being quoted? It's like using don't judge others, but you're judging someone by doing it.

Like someone who has mental problems and needs treatment? The first step to any solution is to admit there is a problem.

A boy who thinks he is a girl has the same type of disconnect from reality as one who thinks he is Patton, or Napoleon or a dog. Surgery is not the answer for any of these.

saying that someone is sick or diseased just because they are different is exactly the sort of thing imind was talking about.

Saying they are normal when they are not doesn't help. It furthers their disconnect from reality.

There is a big difference between 'being different' and having mental problems.

Gays and lesbians are normal, just like left-handed people and people with blue eyes.

The reality is that homosexuality is not a mental disorder, it never was.
