That description of a 2000 PBS show is wrong today.
Note the error limits on the divergences is +/- 1000 years! Stating that these match with the uncertain dates for Aaron (1600 to 1200 BC) is wrong. The best we can say is that the data suggests that some of the priesthood descend from someone who may have lived in the same time frame as the Biblical Aaron. And others may descend from someone a 1000 years earlier. It has been known for over a decade that a majority of men who self report as members of the Jewish priesthood (Cohanim) carry a characteristic Y chromosome haplotype termed the Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH). The CMH has since been used to trace putative Jewish ancestral origins of various populations. However, the limited number of binary and STR Y chromosome markers used previously did not provide the phylogenetic resolution needed to infer the number of independent paternal lineages that are encompassed within the Cohanim or their coalescence times. Accordingly, we have genotyped 75 binary markers and 12 Y-STRs in a sample of 215 Cohanim from diverse Jewish communities, 1,575 Jewish men from across the range of the Jewish Diaspora, and 2,099 non-Jewish men from the Near East, Europe, Central Asia, and India. While Cohanim from diverse backgrounds carry a total of 21 Y chromosome haplogroups, 5 haplogroups account for 79.5% of Cohanim Y chromosomes. The most frequent Cohanim lineage (46.1%) is marked by the recently reported P58 T->C mutation, which is prevalent in the Near East. Based on genotypes at 12 Y-STRs, we identify an extended CMH on the J-P58* background that predominates in both Ashkenazi and non-Ashkenazi Cohanim and is remarkably absent in non-Jews. The estimated divergence time of this lineage based on 17 STRs is 3,190 +/- 1,090 years. Notably, the second most frequent Cohanim lineage (J-M410*, 14.4%) contains an extended modal haplotype that is also limited to Ashkenazi and non-Ashkenazi Cohanim and is estimated to be 4.2 +/- 1.3 ky old. These results support the hypothesis of a common origin of the CMH in the Near East well before the dispersion of the Jewish people into separate communities, and indicate that the majority of contemporary Jewish priests descend from a limited number of paternal lineages.
Accordingly, our results stress the limitations of using the above haplotype motifs as reliable Jewish ancestry predictors and show its inadequacy for forensic or genealogical purposes.
That it does not take millions of years for something to turn into a fossil.
I could not tell you whether it is a rock or not, and neither can you unless you have actually inspected it. Could you also say that man and a monkey are different. I mean you can tell by just looking a photo.
Fur?really what do they have that we don't have?
Prehensile or otherwise?loveofourlord said:And before you say tail, we still have one just doesn't extend past the body.
Do they have a soul and spirit?Yup, we got that, and just like them, the only places we lack it are on palms and soles.
Yes.Do humans?
Calcification is not fossilization. That it does not take millions of years for something to turn into a fossil.
Because the Bible says it, that settles it.How can you be sure that's not just wishful thinking?
3,190 +/- 1,090 years would go back to Abraham himself. We know that Aaron is a descendant of Abraham. Aaron is only a common ancestor for the Hebrew nation (Judea). Abraham is a common ancestor for all of the Middle East both Muslim and Hebrew. The Muslims and all of their nations are a descendant of Abraham and Hagar the Egyptian. The Hebrews are a descendant of Abraham and his wife Sarah. As Christians we are adopted into the family of God but we are not natural descendants of Abraham. Bishop Ussher had this all figured out 400 years ago long before we discovered the DNA we now use for evidence. The DNA evidence just confirms that Bishop Ussher's chronology of the history of the world is accurate. Adam had a covenant with God but not all of his natural descendants entered into the covenant that Abraham and his descendants have with God.Note the error limits on the divergences is +/- 1000 years! Stating that these match with the uncertain dates for Aaron (1600 to 1200 BC) is wrong.
They have soul if they eat chitlins and jive.Do humans?
They have soul if they eat chitlins and jive.
You're right there, that's the only soul humans will ever have. They have soul if they eat chitlins and jive.
Ya ... that's why they're called sociopaths. You're right there, that's the only soul humans will ever have.
Not true, all animals have souls, spirits or life forces, if something is alive it must be alive for a reason, right?Science teaches them they're just animals with no soul.
