According to this article in the Washington Post the DNC hacks were reportedly conducted by people with ties to Russia. We will have to see the specifics on that eventually.

However, their actions can be seen as an attempt to aid Socialist Bernie Sanders. The revelation that the DNC had worked with the Clinton campaign against Bernie came out before the Democrat Convention. This could have led to a challenge on the convention floor. Apparently Russia preferred Bernie to Clinton.

(Or they just preferred about anyone, including Trump, to Clinton, which I find more likely. Also, they may have just assumed Clinton would win and were trying to embroil her administration in scandal).

If those hacks had been to help Bernie, their results would have been published before Hillary was a candidate.

It may have come out before the convention, but far too late in the pre-election process to make a difference.

She is not the official candidate until the convention makes her so. Had Bernie pushed it may have had an impact. Some of his followers were willing.

A lesson learned for the Russian spin masters.

No doubt they have another trove of information for the next election cycle...

They were probably just learning from Hillary Clinton's philosophy:

The Observer article has the audio of Clinton saying the following:

http://observer.com/2016/10/2006-au...clinton-proposing-rigging-palestine-election/

“I do not think we should have pushed for an election in the Palestinian territories. I think that was a big mistake,” said Sen. Clinton. “And if we were going to push for an election, then we should have made sure that we did something to determine who was going to win.”

One would have to ask Bernie why he didn't. Fact is, though, he didn't push it, so if it was Russis's goal to support Bernie, not only did he not take their support, but they failed miserably anyway.

Well it was a win-win for Russia, if they were behind it. If it helps Bernie, or Trump or just undermines a Clinton presidency it furthers their agenda. So they did not fail.

In any case they gave him the opportunity, which speaks to their motives. His motives, as you said, would be his own.

But to paint this only as Russia helping Trump misses the bigger picture. Russia was just helping Russia, and saw several ways to do that.

Russians pretty much wrote the book on that count...

And Hillary just plagiarized it for her run against Bernie?

Both Russia and the US have swayed elections. Let's be glad Russia's method was exposing corruption.

I think it was a two step plan. First, make democrats choose Hillary over Bernie, and then make america choose Trump over Hillary.

The DNC leaks would in no way help Hillary defeat Bernie. They showed corruption on Hillary's part. Then the discraced DNC chair was welcomed immediately by the Clinton camp.

Selectively exposing the corruption they wanted people to see, without exposing the corruption that would have run against their goals.

Ah, they didn't use the DNC leak to help Hillary. Instead, other measures were used for that, like loads of trolls decrying Bernie in social media.

We had a few guys on this forum who posted a bad thread about bernie nearly daily, and when Hillary chinched the election, they had nothing but praises for the poor, robbed Bernie and decried Clinton.

Probably. But the corruption had to be there to expose.

And if they exposed Republicans that may have helped Bernie and Trump as well as they were both seen as outsiders.

And that was by the Russians? Come on, that was by Hillary's super pac.

Be nice to Hillary Clinton online — or risk a confrontation with her super PAC

one could wonder if the plot stopped there. my bet is that it didn't, and that we'll see further machinations via the UN.

U.N news agency scrubs tweet calling on Americans abroad to 'end Trump'

The United Nations News Centre — the official U.N. news service — tweeted, then quickly pulled, a post that called for "8 million Americans abroad" to "stop Trump."

yep. for hillary and her group there is always more than one way to do something sneeky--something well-proven via her server problems while SOS.
And with such experience behind her, we can't logically have expected her to stop using such tactics even if she didn't win the presidency.

So her next step would seem to be the international stage, and behind the sceens.

It is ....sad...to see a thread decrying corruption on Clinton's part, that is questionable, when the president elect has SO many conflicts of interest and corruption is going to come out.

Fact is Russia meddled with the US elections. They hacked the RNC too and that information is there to use if they want to. Rubio even warned before the election that "next time it will be us." More than a few Republicans are not happy about it.

What about the DNC cooperation with the Clinton campaign was questionable? They fired the head of the DNC and issued an apology.

The fact is that the US has meddled in elections. Had the DNC not crowned Hillary before the primary season perhaps Bernie would be president and you wouldn't have to worry about Trump's someday possible conflicts of interest.
