i broil burgers for fat to run off.

A thought - WA - I know your hand hurts [ a LOT ] but I hope you were told in the ER that it's important to keep gently moving your fingers - just up and down at present , but as things improve, please start to curl them so you eventually can 'make a fist' again. As movement becomes less painful straighten your fingers and then relax them . Do all this very very gently at first, a couple of times every hour, so you retain mobility.
