Neither the left or the right are "Church" in any way or form, they are points on a political spectrum. Any church that identifies with either left or right has ceased being a church.

Personally, I identify politically as an anarchist. My anarchism is informed by my faith, but I'd never put it alongside - or ahead of - my faith.
The OP specifically addresses the "religious left." Thus, that is the context in which I commented. However, I too would not mix the two, no more than I would mix any matters of God with those of Caesar. But it does happen...and that is the nature of the discussion.

But ultimately, this is an ad hominem objection.
It wasn't an objection, it was an observation. Sometimes we forget that we are the rich ones that Christ was speaking about.
