This post may be somewhat lengthly, but its because there is a bullet list in the post. Read the whole article. This will help you take action on this Act called the Real ID Act of 2005 that takes away state autonomy and state governship over internal affairs concerning driver's licenses. I would like you to urge your Senators and Representative more than replying to the post, but I like replies. The very bottom of the post has a direct to Focus on the Family's Citizenlink. That gives your information by just entering your zip code and the names of your representatives shows up. Please call them on the phone. Phone calls make an impact. Email in very invisible and does not get attention. Just for a note, talking to representatives is like calling a telemarketer over the phone. They are not intimidating giants to fear, the are like you with the same capabilites as you, so just call them and be cordial, but if you feel frustrated about somethiing they did, then let that be communicated in a respectful manner.

There is a whole article I would like to post later on how most of these things are connected. This is a summarized version of it. Take it and read it. It's about the Real ID Act of 2005, an act of the federal government and the encouragement of the Bush administration to federalize driver's licenses. It was signed on May 12, 2005.

Today, it is nearly impossible to go to a job without a car. You need that car to get to your job. Some may also need to take planes to conduct business and others prefer trains. The Act says that if you do not a federal ID card that issued by them as your driver's license, then you can not get a job, open a bank account, ride on a plane or train, or enter a federal building without it. How's that for your representatives to do that, including the Administration encourging it.

This Act makes your "ID card" into an internal passport and limits how you can travel and controls commerce. It is not only just to say you legally know the laws of driving and can therefore drive. The language becomes effective in May 2008. In the mean time, the feds will work in state legislatures to make laws that allow the interconnecting of all state DMV offices, basically making them a federal database of your private information that can be accessed in any other state. These years are absolutely critical for preserving the freedom of your children and grandchildren. I was my children to have freedom that same as I had before the feds started messing it up and taking it away.

Congressman Ron Paul comments on how Real ID is a usurping of civil liberties for Americans: http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2005/tst050905.htm This relates to the trashing of state governments.

The following is a bullet list summarizing the effects of the Act. There are more, but they will be listed in another post following this.
This Act takes takes away state sovereignty.
  • This makes your driver’s license connected to your citizenship.
  • This Act created a national ID card.
  • All power and authority of regulating licenses, how they are used, and who gets them is taken away all authority from 7,341 state representatives and the 50 governors from each state, a total of 7,481 state officials present in the U.S. It takes away the regulation of state driver’s licenses way from 300 million citizens of the U.S. It transfers all that power to one man, the Secretary of Homeland Security. He is an appointed official by the President, so he has immunity from voter accountability, state governments, and many other agencies in the federal government. Only Congress, the President, or a higher court, like the Supreme Court can rein him in.
  • As the language is that every citizen, immigrant, refugee, etc. would have to reissue the driver’s licenses in 2008. They would require you to give a “photo” document for digitization in a permanent archive (they can take pictures with their own camera), your Social Security card (Only employers and financial institutions have business dealing with your SSN, anyone else has no rightful business looking at it), your name, permanent physical address, birth date, and any other requirements give, such as fingerprints and retinal scans to the DMV office as required by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
  • If you don’t provide the information, then you are in effect not a citizen of the U.S. anymore. How’s that for a republican government.

  • You can not get a job, open a bank account, ride a plane, or a train without it, and you can not enter a federal building without it. They control your finances and your travel. That is what a police state does. That’s what the Soviets did and what Communist and Socialist governments do. You have to prove you’re a citizen just to continue to survive here.
  • This makes a driver’s license into an internal passport because it regulates how you travel. It is not just used to say you can legally drive. It says what types of transportation you can use.
  • The Act says you MUST provide your real address. For battered woman, undercover agents from years past, and judges that deal consistently with criminals of the nature of murderers and rapists can not put a P.O. Box on their driver’s license to help protect their location from a vengeful party who have the intention of bodily harm and killing. Also, this does not help Senators or Representatives in case they want to put a P.O. Box on it.
  • This private information will be shared with the government of Canada and Mexico. No foreign government on any level has any business whatsoever handling your private records.
  • All DMV offices linked together into a national database. Your information can be accessed in another state. You can live in California and someone in New York can see your information.
  • Computer radio frequency tags that can store kilobytes of data are planned to be implanted in them. It can be scanned and all your private information is seen. The intended chip would contain a digital photograph and possible fingerprint data.
  • The lies that are spread say the fed only just “sets minimal standards for driver’s licenses” and to “fight terrorists and illegal immigrants”. Lie. A card never stopped anyone from coming into this country. Those “minimum standards” make the federal government in charge of the driver’s license, not states. This is even when the Constitution never gives the power of the federal government to regulate driver’s licenses. In fact, Amendment 10 says the following, “The powers not delegated to the United States [federal government] by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” The Constitution gives States priority, not the federal government. He power of regulation of driver’s licenses in the states. This Act is literally unconstitutional
  • Since driving affects ever American so intimately, this will limit how you can get to your job unless you willing give up your liberty forever or use only a taxi or public transportation.
  • The Act says he can waive laws. Basically, it makes him to be above the law.
Ron Paul also has remarked,” A national ID card offers us nothing more than a false sense of security, while moving us ever closer to a police state." He calls it "authoritarian and Anti-American" (http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2005/tst021405.html). A good example of a police state is the Communist government in China. He has said in the past that "to run an efficient big government, you're going to have invasions of privacy...we pay for it with our taxes, but also through the loss of personal privacy. I think the American people are becoming alert to that, and the message their sending is that it's a price they don't want to pay...Privacy concerns may do more than generate legislation protecting privacy; they may serve to remind people of the dangers of big government in general."

Quotes to live by:

Ben Franklin : "They that can give up necessary liberty for a little temporal security deserve neither security or liberty".

Nebraska State Legislature: The salvation of the State is the watchfulness of the citizen.

A socialist politician trying to make the government of the UK socialist in the early 1900’s. To introduce socialism, just do it gradually. He said, “Don’t scare the horses.” To enter tyrannical reign such as the administration and Congress have encouraged, they do it gradually.

What I would urge you to do is to call your Representative and two Senators on the phone. Email doesn't work in political circles. It will just sit in a computer and never be read. Calling will get the job done. I hear that from politicians what do care about freedom and preserving, if not expanding it. They say to call on the phone. Focus on the Family has a website called webslink that makes it quite painless to get their contact info.

This is the direct link to that info site (quite organized)

You can enter your zip code and your representatives show up.

A recommendation for covering point in the phone call could be along the lines of this:
  1. Repealing the Real ID Act today. Be willing to let your voice convey frustration and upset if you feel that way. That is actually good for representatives to know that their voters are not happy with them.
  2. Urging that states government can be trusted with driver’s licenses and that citizens that are residents of their state can take care of their own licensing needs :regulations, information contained on the license, and how they are handled and whom they are given to
  3. Urge them again to repeal the Act and thank them for listeing.
Please use your right to vote and to call your representative. A republican government requires that its citizens participate in order to preserve the freedom they have in voting.

Make fun of me if you will, but this dosent bother me at all. First off, right now, its all but impossible to get a job without a State ID. And for those not qualified to drive, they will probably have a federal ID, so its not like that will affect anybody. You talk about people in California being able to see your info, who really cares, do you have a credit card? A bank Account? Then its possible for people to track spending, where you go and all that. My drivers liscense expires in 2008, so I have to renew it then anyway. Will it help, probably not, but if It makes drivers liscenses tougher to forge, and stops kids from using fake ID's then thats good enough for me. Youre making a big deal out of nothing.
