I have a Mantle



I have a wonderful mantle to protect me;

- it is warmer than the warmest wool

- it is brighter than the purest gold

- its value is too great to measure

- it is given to me - my greatest treasure

- I don't deserve it - it is granted for free,

by the blood of Jesus it is given to me,

and this mantle that I am thinking of,

surrounds me forever - it is called God's love.

BAREFOOT ANGELS



Oh, Lord, if I could only be like a barefoot angel...

Then I would walk with li'l soft and tender feet,

not hurting as much as a fragile stem of a weed,

or a tiny little bud, not sure of unfolding a petal,

- so afraid of being crushed by harsh soles of metal.

- I would fly on transparent wings, reflecting Your light,

to a world with so much darkness, violence and fright,

and bring tidings of salvation and speak of what's true,

that's my heart's true desire, to bring love from You.

Nice Unn! I love poetry. ... I write it when I can, but the last one I wrote was for the christmas contest. The rest I've been posting on my blog. I'll have to find some to share here

The road has been rocky
the road has been long my friend
Nobody really knows
where this road will end

With its many twists and turns
and bridges to burn~

But we must always move forward
to that distant horizon.
We should cherish the good times
toss the bad ones to the wind

No more looking over our shoulder
it's the present we must attend
Step by step, we shall make it through

I just thank my lucky stars
that I am traveling with
someone as wonderful as YOU!

I haven't written a poem, but I sat down at the piano and wrote this song for my husband, its a little dorky but he liked it.

My Little Son

Rocking in my arms
My little Son.
I wonder about his future
and ponder in my heart
the angel's words.

King of Kings they name him,
But he is hated by kings
and they want His life
And in Egypt
I'll be rocking in my arms
My little son.

He is lost!
My Son is gone
And when I find Him
I'll remind him of all the times
I've rocked my little son in my arms.

He's grown my little Son.
His future is here,
Son of God
Son of Man
But I remember
Rocking in my arms,
My little Son.

At the foot of the cross
I weep for My little son
Gently rocking Him in my arms.
Knowing now that someday He will gently
Rock me in His arms.

Possum in My Trash Can

Little ol' Possum
sitting in my trash can

Scared the poo out of Dan

looking up at me
As if to say
Could you please set me free

if you only knew
just how much I dilike
Possum stew

would then
Breathe a sigh of relief
because he'd knew he'd win

I blamed my kitties
for which they do not do

I wrote this in 2000.

I remember

watching Ed Sullivan at night
before Michael Jackson became light
when Donny was the rave
even though Marie was my fave.

Lyin' on my back near this tall green bush
feeling ants bite me on my little tush
watching stars blink and go twinkle
getting up in the night, got to go and tinkle

taking naps when I didnt wanna
get you get you Im gonna
use to be my favorite game
even though I cant remember it's name

tv was then black and white
mom and dad were always right
people looked after each other
cuz he aint heavy he's my brother

Seeing the first man on the moon
JFK and Martin died too soon
growing up was all I could dream
now I wanna go back it seems

Now I have kids of my own
who are almost grown
all I can dream for them
is to have good memories too of way back when............
