St. Paul police on bicycles had words with a man who shouted and shook his cane at protesters, the Star Tribune reported. And while another man yelled “All lives matter,” Black Lives Matter leaders linked arms to separate him from the crowd, the paper added.

“This is what democracy looks like,” one officer said, according to the Star Tribune.

The good news is that the 300 people in that march were dwarfed by the 30,000 people at "All Lives Matter" in Birmingham.
'All Lives Matter' march draws more than 20,000 to Birmingham | AL.com

"It's about taking our church out in the streets," Beck said. He said marchers came from as far away as China, Dubai and the Netherlands.

Actor Chuck Norris, a conservative activist known for his martial arts, action movies and TV show "Walker, Texas Ranger," marched about two rows behind Beck. Alveda King, a niece of civil rights activist the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., marched in the front row. Bishop Jim Lowe, pastor of the predominantly black Guiding Light Church in Birmingham, co-organized the march with Beck and marched with him at the front. As a child, Lowe attended Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, where the march started, a headquarters church for the civil rights movement in Birmingham. Lowe and his sisters were in the church when a KKK bomb blew up the church and killed four little girls on Sept. 15, 1963.

"Love is the answer," Lowe said as he marched. "God is the answer."

Some Birmingham police officers said the crowd could have been as large as 25,000 to 30,000. It may have been the largest march in Birmingham since the civil rights marches of 1963.

I know several of our friends declined going to the state fair Saturday because of the protests. I would be interested to know if the fair took a hit that day profit-wise.

The fair offered the group their own booth at no charge and they refused. That, to me, tells me they're not interested in dialog at all.

Ohh Weeeeee! Looky at all them white faces and god signs. Is that Frederic Douglas posters that they brought out? Can't quite make out the caption... Does it say "Courage?" Perhaps they should have used "The white man's happiness cannot be purchased by the black man's misery." or "I make no pretension to patriotism. So long as my voice can be heard on this or the other side of the Atlantic, I will hold up America to the lightning scorn of moral indignation. In doing this, I shall feel myself discharging the duty of a true patriot; for he is a lover of his country who rebukes and does not excuse its sins. It is righteousness that exalteth a nation while sin is a reproach to any people." instead.

Here's a take on Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter.
“All lives matter” is meaningful as an aspiration. Stated as a claim about present conditions, it is a lie that carries dark political implications. Until we live in a country where the lives of Americans like Tamir Rice and John Crawford and Eric Garner actually matter as much to the justice system as the life of Darren Goforth, then “all lives matter” will continue to be a couched insult, an obstacle to our aspiration of ensuring justice for all.

Did you notice the Black civil rights leaders there too?

All lives matter. That's the truth.

Speaks volumes that you can find something wrong in a march to show solidarity between whites and blacks. You'd much prefer they were fighting I take it.

Gasp, "white faces" gasp, "god signs" oh noes maybe dem dere white folk is trying to give the colored the religion! MERCY!

Please.

No I didn't. It looked much like a GOP convention with a sea of whiteness.

And to say "all lives matter" is to denigrate what the black community sees as to what they face on a daily basis. That's the truth.

All this talk of 'all lives matter' is a red herring. The 'black lives matters' movement is not saying that the other lives don't matter, it is about how the black community has been singled out and punished more than the others.

Yes, of course, all lives matter, but I do feel it takes away from the initial purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, which was (and I'm sure still is) to bring more public attention and awareness to the racial discrimination, police brutality, and to the social and economic issues and problems African Americans are still facing in this country. I feel the same about the Native Lives Matter movement as well. And additionally, I also feel that this "All Lives Matter" or the "White Lives Matter" movement are meant to initially mock the Black Lives Matter Movement, and as a Native American, I will even extend this feeling to the Native Lives Matter Movement as well.

It's all in the quote in post 2. Aveda King, nice of MLK. Also a pastor who survived a KKK church bombing.

I doubt they are trying to perpetuate systematic racism and denigrate blacks.

Also: gotta love the "sea of whiteness" part. What's that called... race baiting?

And in solidarity, as a Native American, I stand with them, because our experiences and our social and economic conditions in this country aren't that different.

Either all lives matter or they don't. Or some matter more than others.

"All lives matter" treats everyone equally valueable. I don't know about the movement itself, but from a coalition building standpoint, it certainly is attractive to a larger segment of the population than just saying one particular group's lives matter.

I doubt they were too. I'm sure they were trying to put up a united front.

Did no one remember to tell the group that kills the most blacks in America that black lives matter?

It would be wonderful if we lived in a country where all lives are valued and treated equally, no matter the color of their skin, but sadly, we do not.
