I do like that one!
It makes me smile.
How could it not? :D That little kitten with that tilt of the head like the little stuffed cat is doing and that expression. People don't think cats can emote but they do and that is priceless. Bad kitty no messy with heem.^_^ And it is the perfect caption too.

Herod found that out the hard way in Acts 12:

Acts 12:
21 On an appointed day, Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them.
22 The people kept crying out, "The voice of a god and not of a man!"
23 And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.…

.

Whoa! I missed that....i had no idea that's how Herod's end came

Don't forget that there's several different people named "Herod". Be careful of which one they're talking about.

Thanks, i checked, and i think it's the king that was named Herod the Great.

Herod the Great kicked the bucket around 4 BC, IIRC. Would that fit the timeframe?

But this was a 15 year old kid, too young to work except farm work or with a hardship exemption. So it's not really fair to criticize him for not doing more.

And we don't even know if he didn't do more after the picture was taken!

I'm quite surprised this thread into a war over the power of prayer. Regardless of your belief, prayer and meditation have medical benefits, so it can't hurt. If you choose to do neither, it's your prerogative. :thumbups:

Everybody's talkin' all this stuff about me
Why don't they just let me live (Tell me why)
I don't need permission
Make my own decisions (Oh!)
That's my prerogative

It's my prerogative!

Good ole Bobby Brown!!

I play organ for our church and I often get anxiety attacks right before the service starts. And they're horrible, but I have to kinda hide them because our organ is up front. I have a prayer I say every time I play, and I can honestly tell you it calms me down immediately.

Prayer: because at least it feels like you're doing something.

Because we ARE doing something. You don't know what comes after the prayer, do you? Prayer often evokes action.

Had this kid been holding up a cardboard sign with #homelesslivesmatter on it, you probably would've been cheering him on and talking about what a fine upstanding man he was going to be.

How often does prayer evoke action? It seems to evoke only more prayer.

Yes, because then he would actually be doing something useful - raising awareness about homelessness.
Yep, holding up a sign....that's really putting yourself out there.....

How can you even say that? How do you even KNOW?

Yes, because then he would actually be doing something useful - raising awareness about homelessness.

So did this prayer. Thanks for making my point for me.

Prayer is powerful and is medically healthy for ones health. It not only is a way for us to show love and compassion but it provokes action as well. That's why so many churches not only pray but also give out food and supplies to the needy. God still anwsers prayers today.

I don't know if I'm really behind the whole "raising awareness". There are a lot of things that I am aware of, and I'm pretty sure many other people are aware of, that seem to need to have MORE awareness raised. Frankly, I find "raising awareness" about the MOST useless type of help for anything that the general population knows is an issue.

This prayer raised awareness of homelessness? It seems to have raised only undeserved adulation of prayer.

And a hashtag sign raises awareness how???
