IMHO anytime compassion in thought or deed occurs, it is a good thing.

Herod found that out the hard way in Acts 12:
Acts 12:
…21 On an appointed day, Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them.
22 The people kept crying out, "The voice of a god and not of a man!"
23 And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.…
.
Whoa! I missed that....i had no idea that's how Herod's end came
Don't forget that there's several different people named "Herod". Be careful of which one they're talking about.
Thanks, i checked, and i think it's the king that was named Herod the Great.
But this was a 15 year old kid, too young to work except farm work or with a hardship exemption. So it's not really fair to criticize him for not doing more.
I'm quite surprised this thread into a war over the power of prayer. Regardless of your belief, prayer and meditation have medical benefits, so it can't hurt. If you choose to do neither, it's your prerogative. :thumbups:
Everybody's talkin' all this stuff about me
Why don't they just let me live (Tell me why)
I don't need permission
Make my own decisions (Oh!)
That's my prerogative
It's my prerogative!
Prayer: because at least it feels like you're doing something.
Yep, holding up a sign....that's really putting yourself out there.....How often does prayer evoke action? It seems to evoke only more prayer.
Yes, because then he would actually be doing something useful - raising awareness about homelessness.

Still better than prayer.Yep, holding up a sign....that's really putting yourself out there.....
This prayer raised awareness of homelessness? It seems to have raised only undeserved adulation of prayer. How can you even say that? How do you even KNOW?
So did this prayer. Thanks for making my point for me.
I don't know if I'm really behind the whole "raising awareness". There are a lot of things that I am aware of, and I'm pretty sure many other people are aware of, that seem to need to have MORE awareness raised. Frankly, I find "raising awareness" about the MOST useless type of help for anything that the general population knows is an issue. How often does prayer evoke action? It seems to evoke only more prayer.
