Does anyone know anything about this preacher, Peter Popoff? Many preachers, such as Brother Benny Hinn and Brother Richard Roberts, offer anointing oil. But Peter Popoff offers something called "miracle water" which he claims can heal and bring prosperity. Is he to be trusted or not? Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't trust him, but that's just me.

I know many people bash this man. I won't do that.

I know a couple people who had some miraculous things happen after they partnered with Popoff.

People who are young in the Lord, or those who are desperate, seem to flock to him (or anywhere for that matter where they feel there may be hope for them).

Once, just to see what would happen, I called and asked for the miracle water. What came was some water, and a letter, and a strict formula of instructions.

"Put the water under your pillow for three nights. DO NOT OPEN THE ENVELOPE TIL THE MORNING OF THE FOURTH DAY! Wake in the morning. Take 3 sips of water, no more, no less. Then open the water. Say this prayer. Anoint your body, your wallets, your checkbook, and the windows and doors in your house, saying this prayer."

Yes, it is silly.... but no more silly than what many Christians do to try to move the hand of God. From self-flaggelation, to using beads to say rote prayers, to seeking psychics to know the future, hypnosis, etc.

Funny part is... I didn't do any of what it said and opened the envelope anyway.... The "word" that was "specially for me" was actually very right on... it amazed me. :)

All I know about Peter Popoff is this...

He came to town and while pacing the front, he looked into the crowd and pointed my mom out. And from the front, pointing at her in the mass, he prophesied over her and then my brother and I. AND HE WAS DEAD ON!!!!! His words to us come to pass to the T!!!!!! I will never forget that day! I was a teen, and I lived out his prophecy! So did my brother and my mom. We had never met him or even been to a single meeting of his before.

this here is no difference than "the six steps to prosperity" or like such. It's formula, or legalism, or silliness. I don't like it all or do it, but it may not necessarily take away from an annointed man of God. it's by faith we receive anyway, not ritual. So by faith receive the water, as long as it lines up with the Word and will of God. Jesus told one guy to wash in the river, and he'd be healed...but doesn't mean everyone will be healed that way. Maybe sleeping on a pillow over water healed one... but...

This statement has nothing to do with Peter Popoff personally ...

The [false] prophet Baalam was accurate in some of his prophecies. He prophesied blessings over Israel by the Spirit of God. The oft quoted Numbers 23:19 (God is not a man that He should lie .... etc.) actually came from His mouth, and we regard it as the authoritative Word of God (at least I do). Yet, in the New Testament, this man who prophesied accurately is condemned for his teachings and actions.

Caiphas was also someone who prophesied accurately, just before he maliciously had our Lord and Savior murdered.

I say this just to point out that an accurate "Word" from a man is not indicative of his character. Also, sometimes God will do things because of our faith and not necessarily because the "preacher" was right in teaching it. Sometimes God just does thing in spite of us. Moses was supposed to speak to a rock so that water would come out. Instead he struck the rock in anger (not sure if I would have done worse in his position after 40 years of dealing with them folks).

Again, not an inditement on Peter Popoff (though from some reports and statements of admission from his own mouth, I personally find it difficult to trust him, but everyone must pray, listen to God, and decide for themselves where they will send their hard earned dollars) and neither is this meant to dminish the wonderful and encouraging testimonies I have read, but just to give a note of caution in regards to such things.

Uh uh. No way. No way would I drink something that came through the mail!!!

I read a small booklet years and years ago from Popoff that described who the anti-christ was. It had sketched pictures of the purported anti. It had some interesting stuff in there about "end-times" but that's all I know of the guy.

funny, none of us know much about him. I just voiced my only personal encounter with him. He was quiet for many years, it's wierd to hear him pop up again...or pop off again. HA!

Some years back this man had a tremendous anointing.

Now days I prefer to plant seed in other ground.
