There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3)

A family moves into a fix-upper house. Dad explains to his 5 sons what needs to be done. Next day all 5 sons go outside, leaving dad alone at work. A neighbor asks, "Where are your sons?" Dad answers in sadness, "My sons are not much helpers." A son hears it and tells his brothers, "After all, dad knows we are not much helpers." They continue to have play time with friends.

"There is none righteous, not one," is God's lamentation. He expected at least some to be righteous just like Abraham and David. But He found none seeking righteousness. He said it in great anguish. When a believer quotes this, he bears witness of the Father's anguish.

A believer, upon hearing a brother's wrongdoing, quotes the passage and says, "After all God knows we are not righteous. Forget about the slip (sin) and don't lose peace over it."

But another believer quotes the same passage and says, "Brother, we made our Father sad again. Let us admit our wrongdoing and seek forgiveness."

Wherever the word of God is quoted, let believers' hearts be filled with His lamentation.
Amen.
