That was 150 years ago -- look how far they've fallen since then.

I don't think the (negroes) blacks have fallen at all, but have made great strides as Americans to find their dreams as well! :D

Well, yes the parties have changed greatly (which is why I'm no longer Republican.) IMO-- the democratic party has been stolen by socialists (now using the term progressives so they are better accepted)

A lot of what the Dems stand for today is grounded in actual US Progressivist concepts from the late 19th early 20th centuries, so the term "Progressive" is quite appropriate.

Social reform to care for the large population. The "commonwealth" if you will.

However, I still think today's Republican party stands for the littler guy, minorities, small businesses etc., in general.

You see, I just don't understand how that is what one sees when one looks at the GOP.

I honestly do not. I'm probably "upper middle class", good job, stable home. Don't quite make 6 figures but close. But I honestly feel nothing that the GOP does is helpful to the "little guy" except to pay lipservice to concepts like "less intervention" and "less regulation".

The GOP has supported tax breaks to the wealthiest (which is not the little guy, not even people at my level). They've garnered the support of industry owners and CEOs who have turned around and shipped jobs to China at alarming rates. I've seen the GOP's lust for less regulation turn into a nightmare of greed and corruption on Wall Street and banking/lending systems that essentially destroyed the US economy in 2008.

I saw a lot of "little guys" get hurt very badly in that mess. And while the Dem's hands were not lilly white in that debacle the GOP "standard" of "less regulation/freer markets" is the rallying cry that lead the charge into it.

There is some truth in every poison... I agree.

Just for easy comparison (let's not go off the deep end here on this ok?) At the first, Hitler appealed to many different Leaders and Political Schemas. He approached them in the manner they would be most vulnerable, yet he had his one very determined, underlying goal, right?

Not going off the "deep end", ummmm, well except for the fact that comparisons to Hitler have absolutely no (NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, ZILCH ZERO) bearing on a discussion of Obama I guess you have a point buried in there somewhere?

But when Congress can be overridden on whimsical notes by an activist SCOTUS, then what's the point of having a congress?[/quote]

In the American system which is, often, at best, a compromise, the three branches are "co-equal". The right to determine the constituionality of any given legislation provided by Congress rests solely with the Supreme Court (Marbury v Madison)

That's their "power". It is a check/balance to the Legislative overreach.

This is not say there isn't judicial activism at all. But it is far too loosely used in the US when people see court decisions they don't personally like.

What is this all about ?? It dont look good though.

In 2014, The Obama Dictatorship Will Be Complete

Thanks for posting this. Most conservatives already knew this. When a tyrant wants to control a country the first thing he must do is take control of the healthcare. Then he has control of the people.

There is a video of Obama saying that sometimes pain medication is better than surgery. I SURE hope he was talking about patients with back pain, otherwise, we're cooked.

The NWO people have said for a long time that the world population is too high. Margaret Sanger started Planned Parenthood with the plan to decrease the black population and there are other ways that they are decreasing the population. Obamacare will decrease the population through denial of care to the elderly and hugely backed up schedules for the few doctors left and almost no nurses. The only ones who will get adequate care will be private pay.

Also, John Roberts is known to enjoy hob-knobbing with the Washington elites and they love Obama. He didn't want to have his name taken off of the A-list.

Ummmm, any examples of that or is this just another one of those:

"every dictator in history started by doing [fill in blank with whatever Obama does, from eating to urinating to policy decisions]"

Obamacare will decrease the population through denial of care to the elderly

Any facts on this one? Nah, didn't think so.

Also, John Roberts is known to enjoy hob-knobbing with the Washington elites and they love Obama. He didn't want to have his name taken off of the A-list.

Yeah, that's why a Supreme Court judge makes decisions. Couldn't possibly be because of the reasoning in the draft of the Court decision which goes on for page after page after page of dense Constitutional law interpretations.

No he did that because he wanted to go to cocktail parties, because absolutely no one in Washington would invite him anywhere if he didn't uphold Obamacare's Mandate. No one!

Again, something like a coherent view of reality would come in handy at times.

Anyone who thinks that Obama is a dictator and will try to seize more power once his term is up is riding the crazy train to Delusionville.

Do you have any plausible reason to suspect otherwise?

I suspect it is more of a "hope" for many on the Right. Because the mere concept of Obama winning, legitimately, the vote of sufficient Americans to put him in the White House is beyond belief for them.

If Obama were to turn into a monster who ate human babies for breakfast and attempted to enslave America in a dystopian hellscape of terror they would at least be able to justify the unending hatred they have for him and many have had since day one of the first term.

An "I TOLD you so!" would so much better than having to just swallow their pride and accept that Obama won.

In America the concept of the "Sore Loser" is something that Conservative parents teach their kids not to be but then become almost immediately upon losing.

Pathetic.

Just for the record, were Obama to actually attempt a coup as has been suggested in this thread, I would be among the rest of the Americans who rose against him.

It wont happen though. If you think otherwise you are capital C Crazy.

Though in fairness to the right wing loonies in this thread, I heard an awful lot of lefties saying the same things about The Shrub when he was president.
Maybe the leftists you hang with are more delusional than the ones I do, but I never heard anyone say that Bush the Lesser would seize power. Cheney on the other hand...

I heard a lot of that when Bush was re-elected. I remember him being called a dictator, lier, fascist, and even the anti-christ. I heard far worse about Bush than I have about Obama. Apparently it's okay for some people to talk about how they wanted Bush to be assassinated, yet anyone who questions Obama or his policies is automatically a nutcase or a racist.

Obama faced the most assassination threats of all modern presidents. And that was only in his first term. I can only imagine the bunk he has to put up with now that he has a second term.
