Believers are the children of promise, later typified by Isaac, being begotten to God of his own will by the efficacy and grace of his free promise and then the blessing of that seed is promised, which being of grace, is made sure to all them (Romans 4:16). I am astounded at how such brilliant men throughout church history did not grasp this. Men who explained the covenant of grace more clearly and profoundly than many baptists!

The distinction between Baptist Covenant theology and paedobaptist Covenant theology is that the Baptists actually believe that the New Covenant is New. That is that all the other covenants revealed the eternal Covenant of Grace but were not the Covenant of Grace. The coming of Christ and His accomplished work established, or actually brought in that Covenant.

The paedobaptist sees all the covenants as a part of the covenant of grace only under different administrations. The Baptist looks at the various covenants as revealing and pointing to the covenant of grace concluded and brought in by Christ as the New Covenant.
