It's OK, she'll be back in a week. She went home to visit some of her Catholic high school friends. It's been over 30 years and she still hasn't made as good as friends as she did in high school. They really are an impressive group of women. Real salts of the earth.

The other night my wife came up missing and I was freaking out! When she finally showed up I noticed her nails were done up. When I asked her about it she said she had been kid napped so she had to wear a disguise in order to escape. I'm just glad they didn't harm her.

I survived a week alone.

I actually got sick of myself about three days in and starting cleaning up my mess. Being alone for a week wasn't that bad. We have such routine, uneventful lives that nothing really changed.

When we my wife takes her sabbatical to see her family overseas every 2 years, I get to know myself again. Marriage can create a merging of identities. Bettercallpaul and Bettercallpauline need time apart to forge their own identities again.I think it is an important time to ask, "now, how would I really cope if my partner passes away before me?" How would my lifestyle change? Could I cope?

I have my own identity in my marriage and while my husband and children participate in some of my native excursions, the political and social activism is relatively my own. They support my efforts and encourage me, but activism is my own path.
