My Music Taste

I lean toward "Oxygen" and "Equinox", and I also found an excellent "Best Of" CD a year or so ago. Good stuff.

I bought those two back in the 70's while I was in high school. I also have "Rendez-vous" and hope to snag a copy of his new one that came out a couple of months ago. I have heard a couple of pieces from it (he posts on Facebook).

I like classical, jazz and country music which people find unusual.
Who else likes this music?

I really like just about all Folk Music. The Weavers, Peter Paul & Mary, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan. Unfortunately some are not around anymore, but still love to hear their recordings.

Have you heard of Lev Shelo?

Holy crap! I have realized that my love of music period has expanded as I have gotten older too. I love every type of music. I can do without "new school" country except for Brad Paisley and Toby Keith. I can also do without a lot of music regardless of genre, at least mostly within the last decade or so. I do like "Diamonds" by Rihanna, "No" by Meghan Trainor, "Cake by the Ocean" (the clean version), and John Legend. The rest, I am not a fan of. Here is a sample.

Not sure if your examples were of what you liked or what you did not like.

I liked Robert Palmer in the mid 80s with his "Addicted to Love" era hits.

What I did NOT realize was that he had a hit back in the 70s that I liked: Bad Case of Lovin' You.

I was referring to a lot of songs from the past five or ten years. I do however, like Maroon 5 as an example.

I don't see how those tastes are "bizarre", it seems like styles a lot of people enjoy. Those are personnaly not what I like the most, but I do like it (about the 3 my favorite is classical, and then country!)

That seems to me to be an illogical pairing. Shostakovitch and Buck Owens?

Bluegrass, maybe instead of Country. At least it has some REAL virtuosity.

OK fair enough. I understand not everyone sees things the way I do.

But my tastes tend toward similar constructs across the genres. It is why I like funk but not disco, classic rock but not much pop rock, bluegrass but not country, and baroque rather than romantic era classical music. All require a degree of virtuosity and improvisation.
