That your challenge is null.
Why?

I'm just asking that, if it was formed by the Colorado River, wouldn't it be widest at the top?

Or, at the very least, wouldn't it be wider at the top than at the level of the river itself?

What do you mean by "the top"? Are you speaking of the headwaters of the Colorado River, or where the river meets the sea?

But it is wider at the top. Not by a huge margin, but the fact that people can actually walk down the sides of the canyon walls instead of having to abseil down shows that it is wider than the floor.

I think he means the top of the canyon sides. Although once again his inability to properly explain things strikes again.

6093 feet up from the riverbed.

Standing up there at the top, looking over the edge, way down there at the Colorado River.

Wouldn't you expect it to be wider up there, than down at the bottom?

I certainly would.

It's basic physics.

Ya ... it's basic physics.

That's why I'm struggling with it.

Albeit, I know what I'm getting at ... you guys don't.

Not yet, anyway. ;)

But the physics of a canyon are very different physics to a bobby pin.

It is. In fact it is by a huge amount. In many places there no dry land you can stand upon at the bottom and the rims on opposing sides are separated by over a mile.
