My ex was snipped at age 11. The skin grew over the top, so he couldn't urinate. The only thing he remembers that was "bad" about it was it burned to pee during the healing stage. But he didn't suffer any psychological damage, and predicting that will occur shows just how namby-pamby and weak we as a society have become. If getting a foreskin removed is the worst thing that ever happens to this kid (or any male for that matter), he is one lucky person.
Lucky for your ex, but that doesn't invalidate the concerns of others. I personally would have been traumatized by someone snipping away any part of my genitals when I was old enough to remember, especially if it was medically unnecessary. I had a friend who had her imperforate hymen removed when she was young, and she was still afraid of hospitals as a teenager as a result. I wouldn't call such a reaction namby-pamby at all. Saying "He'll suffer worse" is an invalid argument in any discussion.
