On MSNBC this morning, a former Republican governor said that he didn't think the Republican platform against gay marriage would hurt the party, but he thought it would be 2016.

Young voters overwhelmingly support gay marriage (if only they supported straight marriage as enthusiastically) and think it's no big deal.

Will we wind up with a third party--the Social Conservative Party? The Wedge Issue Party? I don't see the Reverend Dobson supporting either party platform if both support gay marriage.

That just goes to their youth and their inability to figure out what marriage is about (and why the government even has a stake in regulating and charging fees for marriage.) And for Catholic youth, it just goes to show how poorly they have been catechized and know their Faith.

Years ago I watched Nikita Kruschev take off his shoe at the U.N., bang it on the desk and scream that they (the Godless Communists) will bury you (The United States.) We all had a good laugh. Them bury us? Funny. We were strong back then and the Communists were only a second power. We were "under God" while they had nothing. Of course, generations later, after our children have been taught by the likes of Bill Ayers, their history books have been revised to remove any idea of American exceptionalism, God has been thrown out (and our morals have declined) and our children can't even figure out why marriage is unique and the principle behind it, maybe we shouldn't have laughed afterall. Maybe the Godless *will* bury us.

And yet liberals scream "Guilt by association!" every time we bring up Obama's coterie of Communist chums. Go figure.

Don't forget the certain ministers he has been acquainted with in the past.

Obama has communist chums? Actual communists? I didn't think there were any left.

Not in the true sense anyway. Republicans sometimes think that everyone who isn't a republican is a far-left menace, but I don't think you're quite that stupid.

And in any case, I thought socialist was the word du jour?

Sure they are. Can't remember his name but that once Green Energy Czar (the Truther who formed STORM) self-describes himself as a Communist after his prison sentence (and as far as I know, he's never recanted.)

Names or it didn't happen.

Also, because one guy who says he is a supporter of communism also voted for Obama does not make him 'chums'.

And by the by, the word you all are looking for is 'comerade'.

Also also, just because someone self-describes as communist doesn't make him one. North Korea calls itself the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea. Labels are misleading

Looked it up for you (since you seem unable to do it for yourself). It's Van Jones. Well actually, it's Anthony--he wants to be called "Van" and is known as that. There are quite a bit of articles on him, the fact that he calls himself a Communist and has never recanted, his Ella Baker Society, his radical military group STORM, and the fact that he was "hand picked" for the office of Green Energy Czar (Obama's, Valerie Jerret, was positively ecstatic since she said that "we have been watching him for a long time"). Unfortunately for him, when he was "outed", he quietly left the office, but has now resurfaced and is playing a big part in the Obama admin. Oh yes, he really is a 911 Truther--he believes that the government attacked the World Trade Center Towers (killing 3000 U.S. citizens) and *not* the radical Muslims. (Forget about facts.) Oh he's also connected with the group, "Color of Change".

I looked him up too and according to Wikipedia what you say is either hearsay or gross exaggeration. So, no dice.

All the articles that I checked (I simply don't know how to link to more than one at a time) show that it is more than hearsay. Individually look up Van Jones under Ella Baker, then under STORM, then under 911 Truther, then under Green Energy Czar (you'll find Obama's Valeria Jerett gushing about "how proud" there), then the fact that he's resurfaced in the Obama admin. and his links to "the Color of Change" organization (you'll note that he left the White House Green Energy Czar position when he was "outed" and you'll find that he had self-proclaimed a Communist when he was in prison.

Nope not hearsay at all. Not Wikipedia.

Nope. Still not buying it. Except for the Jerett part because that is well documented.

Still don't think he's a die-hard communist.

Please try again.

Do as you wish--if you want to believe contrary to what he said, so be it. (You will believe whatever you want anyway, I guarantee it.) But know that he said it and he believes it (and there has never been any report of him recanting) and even though it doesn't matter to him what either of us believe, some of us are not so easily fooled by "I really don't want to know".

Well if you consider making marriage for same sex couples an unlikely thing to happen any time soon and THEN do the same for any kind of right granting union other than marriage AND(from what i hear) have neither recognised in the state as some kind of "victory"...

It's all about putting da homasexials in their place and keeping them there.

It's the whole "homasexials are eeeeeevil and the root of all eeeeevil" thing that has really been turning me off to the Church. 2358 is continually ignored by the hierarchy and the laity in the Church and no one is correcting them. Instead, the rhetoric gets more and more heated and the hatred gets more and more inflamed.

I really do expect someone to write a "stone the homos" law or something similarly loathesome in one of the former or would-have-been Confederate (i..e., Arizona) states any time now (maybe an addition to the "stand your ground" law to alllow for the murder, I mean execution, of homasexials). I also expect our fundamentalist Catholic brethren to throw their full-throated support towards such a bill and the Church be be absolutely silent on the issue (thus throwing Her tacit support of the murder of people simply because they turned out "gay").

No, not really. It's about trying to keep marriage within its traditional norm of being between one man and one woman, instead of accomodating the 1% of the homosexuals and re-defining marriage for the entire rest of the population into being pretty much whatever the parties involved want it to be----two women, two men (and soon enough, following just as the night does the day) three women and one man, two men and five women, one woman and six men.....the possibilities are endless. Sit back, and watch it happen.

Don't forget marriage within the family. Cousins is a given in a lot of places. Sweden already allows half-blooded sibling to marry. Wouldn't be too surprised if a mother and son would want to wed.
