I don't. I think it not only inspires knowledge of the Saints but uses art as a jumping point.

I don't find it disrepectful but another medium to reach people that otherwise would not give it the time of day. It not only sparks curiosity but educates on the various art techniques throughout history depicting religious figures.

Of course it has it's place, like a blog.

So you don't have to like it.

In a Church or museum, I'd be right beside you.

The difference in reactions is because of our different understanding of icons. Eastern Rite Catholics and Orthodox will find it offensive even though I know that's not what you or the author meant by it.

Does anyone remember an avatar with Pope Benedict...written in it was 'Sola Scriptura'. Had Pope Benedict looking incredulous in it & 'seriously?' written below the pic. I loved that avatar. I think Tonks had it? Not sure. But I remember it getting me curious on the Pope's feelings & thoughts concerning Scripture alone.

I know you didn't mean any offense by it and I know the author didn't either. I do see your perspective, but for us icons are very holy, so even if it's just on a blog or on a computer version we don't like to see them in that manner. Again, it just comes from a different understanding of them. I guess you could compare it to how many protestant churches might think it's fine to bring coffee and snacks into church (and even have coffee bars in them), but Catholics and Orthodox would find it very offensive if you walked into church munching on a donut and drinking a latte. The protestants aren't trying to be disrespectful, they just have a different understanding of the service.
