Luke 16:19-31 is a parable and not a literal picture of life after death. One of the greatest keys in understanding this parable is understanding the verses that proceed it - verses 14 through 18.

Once those verses are revealed then there is no possible way one can believe that this isn't a parable.

Hell and heaven are in the same 'place': God's presence.

For those in Christ, God's presence is heaven.
For those not in Christ, God's presence is hell.

Both sets of persons are spiritual beings, and therefore will never expire. The first set will experience heaven for ever, the second, hell forever.

Hell is therefore something people do to themselves: God doesn't send them to a physical fire (for in the spiritual realm there is no physicality), but is Himself that fire.

It is God's holiness that constitutes hell for the unsaved in His presence. For such presence was even overwhelming for the righteous prophets who fell down as though they were dead during visions they had.

And what scripture do you use to support this?

The bible tells me that the wicked will be ashes under our feet. It also tells me that the fire that will consume the wicked will not come until they encompass the holy city New Jerusalem.

If sin and sinners are to be no more, how can they still exist? Wouldn't that mean that sin would still exist if they're never destroyed?
