It doesn't. It takes the Oral Torah to interpret Torah to get the Tefillin.Sorry, I should have stated my request more clearly. I should have said, where in scripture does it describe boxes containing laws tied to one forehead and left arm.
Another Catholic thing. Don't you guys realize I try to avoid these topics? What am I supposed to do when YOU bring them up?Also, define papal infallibility any other way.
A few years back I was in a choir directed by Dauermann at a UMJC conference. I realized at the time that if he knew I was goy, I probably would have been kicked off the choir. As Stuart says, "You can't have a Judaism without Jews."
I didn't think UMJC was as extreme as Hashivenu. Don't UMJC synagogues allow for Messianic Gentiles? I'm almost positive they do, unless something has really changed! Do I remember that you attend a UMJC synagogue? Or was that someone else here in the forum? I'm just hoping someone can shed some light.A few years back I was in a choir directed by Dauermann at a UMJC conference. Interesting stuff. Can you tell me what issues they disagree on? I follow this sort of thing.Hashivenu and Tikkun are both under the umbrella of the UMJC and we are on opposite ends of the spectrum on several issues. My congregation is a part of both Tikkun and UMJC.
There are a lot of areas. Soteriology. Discipleship. Charismatic gifts. Role of gentiles. Role of liturgy. Rabbinic authority.Interesting stuff. Can you tell me what issues they disagree on? I follow this sort of thing.
I would be highly interested in learning about Tikkun if you are up to it. I didn't even know about it until you mentioned it in a post the other day. I visited the website you offered. There are a lot of areas. Soteriology. Discipleship. Charismatic gifts. Role of gentiles. Role of liturgy. Rabbinic authority.
This article talks about something along the lines of what you are saying. http://www.jewsnews.co.il/2015/07/2...instructed-me-to-revise-the-ten-commandments/The Catholics have a similar belief; that the Pope has the power to reinterpret or even change scripture, including the laws and the feasts.
It's a very good artical in general. I especially enjoyed the section on the history of MJ. I loved the line about "I don’t want to look over my life and say I wish I had done things more Jewishly."This article may have a clearer hold on the history and development of the Jewish end of MJ.

This one I vaguely remember, but I don't recall what they stood for. Briefly?BTW - there is a 3rd group in the UMJC headed up by Rabbi Jeff Feinberg of Chicago called "Dayenu."
Whatever you think is important about them. What do you want to know about Tikkun?
The artical says the following: During his sermon, Pope Francis announced to Christians around the world that God had called upon him, instructing him “to revise the most sacred of texts, the Ten Commandments.”This article talks about something along the lines of what you are saying. http://www.jewsnews.co.il/2015/07/2...instructed-me-to-revise-the-ten-commandments/
It is Jews News.... It is what is circulating in their circles because it is important. The artical says the following: During his sermon, Pope Francis announced to Christians around the world that God had called upon him, instructing him “to revise the most sacred of texts, the Ten Commandments.”
The problem is, although you can find numerous news sources, none of them are main stream media or catholic news sources, which would certainly carry the story if it were true.
