Jews condemn Southern Baptist effort

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- A leading Jewish organization is condemning the Southern Baptist Convention for using a group of "messianic" Jews -- those who have converted to Christianity -- in its evangelism.

Anti-Defamation League director Abraham Foxman said the effort is offensive because the Southern Baptists are using Jews who have converted to Christianity "to go after other Jews."

Well, I wonder are alcoholics and prison inmates get upset when a church has ministries that focus on evangelizing them by using former drunks and inmates to witness to them.

We should be closer than we are. We both could learn a lot from each other. A lot of newer Christians gloss over the Old Testament, when in actuality having a firm understanding of the OT make the NT that much more interesting!

yawn...a few months ago it was the Pope. A few years ago the top two Rabbis in Israel--after Pope John Paul II invited them to Rome---asked to search the Vatican for stuff Catholics, they said, had stolen from Jews over 14 centuries ago (never occurred to them Moslems sacked Rome and looted the tombs of St. Peter and St Paul in the 934 AD, others had sacked it earlier and their Golden menorah or whatever they thought Catholics stole wasn't there....if it ever existed in the first place)

It never ends. If it isn't Baptists, it is Catholics, or Germans, or Norwegians or somebody.

Amen. I am sick of hearing this "we are persecuted story". Pity us. Today this is no longer true. Look at how well Jewish people do- they are owners of big businesses, media companies, actors, etc.

Truth is every group at some point was persecuted. Christians in early Rome were fed to lions. Albanians were killed by the Turks- they got over it. Why can't these people- learn from history and move on.

Perhaps this is a small number of Jews- but it seems they have a loud microphone.

I am shocked at you. How dare you have anti semitic views. We can't talk about jews like this. Oh wait but they talk bad about Christians and Muslims and any other religion they disagree with. But how dare we insult the jews.
