Since Jesus would be more likely to teach a man to fish or farm (a hand up) instead of just giving people things they did not earn (handouts), I would say He would definitely be a conservative.

The bible does say that he who does not work shall not eat.

I believe He would be neither...but his harshest words would be directed to right wing christian ministers, well known ministers, etc. who get 'in bed' worldly crooked business and politics means, etc....for the love of money and power...

I believe He would speak out against the arrogancy, hypocrisy and pride of the wealthy..big business, .especially that claimed to be done in His Name....doing crooked business ties with criminals, etc..the love of money and the crooked means to get it...He would have harsh words to the modern day pharisees of tv ministers, etc.. He will also speak out against the subtle bureacy and ted tape means things are done to keep people in poverty.

All I can say is that we must careful not to identify Christianity with any political parties because Jesus Christ have HIS OWN Party which is HIS KINGDOM. Christ stands alone, above and outside of every ideology of any political parties. Jesus does not and will not join any of our parties. Jesus said "My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence" (John 18:36).

We need to understand God's ways for political understanding, for an understanding that will allow us to become more faithful witnesses in politics to the God who rules the world through Jesus Christ. Our political challenge as Christians is to learn how to exercise our earthly political responsibilities in obedience to Christ. When the distinction is drawn between "Christians" and the "world" politics. To me, any attempt to legislate against all sin would produce a totalitarian state. History has proven that evil people will use religious or secular reasons to obtain power to perpetrate their own agenda. Christians probably understand this principle as well or even better than the general population, since we believe that the Bible is correct in claiming that all people are sinners and have a tendency to be self-centered. It is hard for Christians to strive for and to legislate humanitarian values while at the same time refraining from advocating the enactment of specifically Christian values. As a "community", we all are to seek to live with everyone. Christians are involved in politics because they want their interests represented whenever new legislation is considered. Their primary concern is that they don't want to be forced to compromise their moral values due to politically-correct legislation. Christians are involved in the political process in the United States while at the same, Christians do NOT want to initiate any kind of religious theocracy. Christians just want their rights protected so that they are not required to participate in a society that can compromise their Christian moral values.

By the way, I have been a registered Republican for 38 years but I thought changing after the Republican politicians messed up our party. I basically said that I hold conservative positions on most issues but have an underlying worldview of what is happening and make decisions based on them. I rather be a person who desires to be well-balanced, calm, careful, steady, and sane.

I agree with the concept that the Republican Party are founded on the idea that societal health is rooted in personal responsibility and actions. We have to remember the Republican Party tends to hold both conservative and libertarian stances on social and economic issues respectively. However, in the last 20 years, conservative individuals have took over NRP's agenda and in the last 10 years, Republicans have gone downhill. In the past, most politicians have failed "morally" in their lives which have been exposed by the media. If the politicians can't control their own moral, why should the average americans? Abraham Lincoln (first Republican President) famously said "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

Today, the Republican Party have many unrealistic expectations and an ignorance of the way things really work in politics which is why they are losing.

Paying taxes? ;)

Well, certainly that's related ^_^

He'd say something about His kingdom being not of this world and not subject to earthly authority - and then He'd tell a story about a couple of sheep

He'd also want people to be self-sufficient through Him instead of relying on government... conservatives sponsor that... liberals don't.

2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

And people starving would be better than anyone helping them, I guess.
He did say something pretty socialist, They took what they had and shared it among those who had need.
(somebody find me the verse, I am no Van Impe!)

Jesus would vote for Ron Paul! ;) (joke, people in politics area would find that funny)

I'm not convinced Jesus would even vote.

Why would Jesus who is God Himself vote? He does not need to.

According to Scriptures government is ordained of God. Government, as such, is ordained of God. It has been corrupted, obviously, but the institution is still ordained of God. God gets to choose the leaders through us. God governs (controls) the world (Isa. 40:22-24), the nations (Isa. 40:15-17), and us (Proverbs 16:9).
