If it is not a person then it is not a person. But it (or he/she) still has rational attraction to being, insofar as it at least tries to make itself comfortable in a conscious fashion.

Even if it is not yet consicous, it will develop consciousness, and therefore possesses it potentially as a disposition (when awake).

Personally I don't think we ought to be debating in terms of technical definitoins of "person" etc. Its how we treat ourselves in general that is the issue.

And culturally rather than legally, not through compulsion but trough wisdom.

Its like the evolutionary world view of how life began. They dont want to know or include how life came from non life. Evolution is only relevenat from when life began. Yet without the beginning of what formulated life, there is no evolution. So that beginning was just as important as the evolution of life itself. What is life without the tiny seed that sprouts it. Kill the seed you dont get life. Does it make it any less life that you can snuff out before it gets the chance to develop into something else. Everything has to have a beginning and cannot be without that beginning. Killing the fetus kills the chance. Killing the chance kills the life and has to have some implications. I guess it depends on how you value things.

According to science its a mass of cells that have no life. And yet any other cell they would call alive. Its funny how non-christians change their view on what something is based on the topic at hand.

Actually better yet if the sperm before hand is "alive", then how can it go into the egg and then the whole thing be no longer "life". So a living thing, dies then magically comes back to turn into a baby?

What on Earth are you talking about?

No one I know says that a fetus, or even a conceptus, has no life. A sperm and an egg have life, even individually. They might deny that it has personhood, but that's about it.

Are miscarried fetuses persons? Is there a pro-life movement to support medical research to end miscarriages? Are miscarried fetuses given funerals like other people? What are they, garbage?

Why is there a different status for miscarried and aborted fetuses? A mental hack. Abortion is considered murder, and murder victims are persons. Abortion gives the fetus personhood. When a death is a result of someone else's deliberate action, it seems different than a death by natural causes, like miscarriage, which is not uncommon. But if we took the personhood of the fetus seriously we would have a moral obligation to protect the vulnerable from any kind of harm.

Let's be honest about origin of the abortion controversy. A man makes a woman pregnant, and the woman un-does what the man has done. How dare she.
