Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Rom. 5:1-5

Experience looks backward at the terrible tribulations one has passed thru with gratitude and gratefulness. But hope looks forward to the promise of blessings received in Christ. Hope is the elder brother of faith. Faith is believing and trusting in things which cannot be seen and hope is the confident expecation of their fulfillment. There is actually a verse in the bible that says:

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Rom. 8:24,25 We are saved by hope. We are saved by faith. And we are saved by grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. Gal. 5:5
