The earlier ones were a BBC radio series before the books, which I still feel was the best version. The others were made into radio shows which are very good too. They put the films in the shade. Most of the cast of the TV series were in the radio show first.

I do not like his fondness for Richard Dawkins & atheism but I love his delicous humour, and of course the delights of Vogon poetry......

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits
On a lurgid bee
That mordiously hath bitled out
Its earted jurtles
Into a rancid festering
Now the jurpling slayjid agrocrustles
Are slurping hagrilly up the axlegrurts
And living glupules frart and slipulate
Like jowling meated liverslime
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes
And hooptiously drangle me
With crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon
See if I don't.

You mean Oolon Collupid's famous trilogy Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes and Who is this God person, anyway?

Still funny, though, :D

God's Final Message to His Creation said:
"We apologise for the inconvenience."

Very definitely a "YAY" to H2G2 from me. Big fan. Have been since I first saw the TV series back in 1981. Also adore the radio series (episodes 7 - 12 are probably my favourite H2G2 in any medium) and the books (So Long and Thanks for all the fish is probably my favourite, and the fifth is a bit bleak, but generally I love them all). The film...was a bit of a letdown, though.

I was at HitchCon over the weekend, and bought the new sixth Hitchhikers' book (and got it signed) by Eoin Colfer, met some of the stars of the series and friends and colleagues of Douglas, and met loads of other H2G2 fans. Had a great time! Looking forward to reading the book. Eoin read out some very entertaining passages.

I love the Hitchhiker's Guide books, I find them quite amusing.

As for the movie, whenever I go to see a movie based on a book I like I try my hardest to seperate myself from my inherent geekness for the book, and view the movie on its own merits. That said, I am one of the few who apparently LOVES the movie. The imagery of the signs coming of the sand to whack them in the face was AWESOME. Among other things.

I found it somewhat amusing. It was okay just not my favorite book, but since I found several things from the book quite quotable I must like it. :)
I only read the first book so far, but sometime I will continue reading them, some of my friends love those books. My best friend has even read from them to me a few times.
