I just wanted to post a thread about the history of thanksgiving.

I value squanto's insight into the history of thanksgiving.

it shows it was about mission work as well as migration to a new world.

squanto was converted to christianity, spent entire end of life with christians, and went to catholic seminary as a result of God's call on his life.

What is your take on history, here....was it too much war, too much blood shed?

or were there positive aspects of God's divine provision that you wish to share?

I remember being embarrassed in grade school over thanksgiving. And wishing we never did it. But is that the right or accurate assessment?

think about it this way, no Ronald Reagan, no Conservativism in the west, no TBN, no Holly wood. There would not be alot of things. I think of movies in general. What is there outside of US? We have european film makers, we have chinese cartoons.

so no movies based in hollywood,

no disney for example.

also no New York Stock exchange, the great NYSE.

we would simply be Europeans at the moment.

And knowing from missionaries I know in Europe, that is not a very charismatic country for God, not like the US.

I think this forum is based in US for example.

no movies, no hollywood, no NYSE, no TBN, no Christian forums.

some of those things are not necessarily good, but you get the point.

(but this coming from an american perspective, of course.....please all comments welcome)

Humble from lack of reading into US history, I think to few works by European settlers were done to convert Native Americans. Population 6-7 million then, maybe 300,000 now. My great grandfather was one and married an Irish Pentecostal lady.
