Hamas will not be represented at the Annapolis conference

The Islamist movement, Hamas, has said Palestinians will not be bound by any decisions taken at this week's US-backed Middle East peace conference.

Ismail Haniya, a leader of the group that is not attending the talks, said discussions would be "fruitless".

Some 40 countries and organisations have been invited to the conference on Tuesday in Annapolis, Maryland.
Israeli and Palestinian negotiators have been meeting in Washington to set out basic terms for the negotiations. US President George W Bush will also hold separate talks with the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, and the Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, on Monday...

Bush lends clout to Mideast peace talks

By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer 23 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - President Bush will lend his clout Monday to help broker an elusive agreement between Israel and the Palestinians on the contours of long-stalled peace talks the two sides expect to relaunch this week at a high-stakes international conference.

Resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been a priority of a succession of U.S. presidents, and late in his two-term tenure, Bush has made that long-coveted diplomatic victory his goal, too...

Believe it or not, that one too has already been replaced with this:-

Bush won't talk to terrorists and theyb won't talk to him.

If Palestines leader talks, that will be binding.
Of course Hamas doesn't recognize any leadership other then their own.
I still say, any Hamas attack must be directed to Palestine sense they are the elected goverment party.
They are responsible for the groups actions.

Bush hosts Mideast talks amid scepticism

By Arshad Mohammed and Sue Pleming Reuters - Tuesday, November 27 11:45 am

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (Reuters) - President George W. Bush opens a high-stakes Israeli-Palestinian peace conference on Tuesday, trying to achieve in his final 14 months in office a goal that has eluded U.S. leaders for decades.

Finally embracing a hands-on approach he disdained after his predecessor Bill Clinton failed to broker a deal in the twilight of his presidency, Bush is hosting the most ambitious round of international Middle East diplomacy in seven years.

The talks are aimed at jump-starting negotiations for creating a Palestinian state. But no one expects a swift breakthrough between the two sides, led by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

In Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas Islamists who oppose the meeting, tens of thousands joined an anti-Annapolis rally chanting "Abbas is a traitor" and "Death to Israel, death to America". Security forces in Ramallah, Abbas's West Bank stronghold, dispersed crowds after scuffles at a protest there...

Bush: 'Battle is underway for future of the Middle East'

Israeli, Palestinian and American leaders arrived at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland on Tuesday still at odds over the text of a planned joint statement of principles for the revival of substantive peace negotiations...

In what seemed like a maximal effort to lend pomp and drama to the occasion, the Israeli and Palestinian delegations helicoptered to the US Naval Academy, rather than simply making the hour's drive from Washington where they had been staying. They arrived in two sets of helicopters, five minutes apart, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his team's choppers landing first in the crisp Maryland sunshine. Walking the few yards from helicopter to waiting motorcade, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni at least had the decency to look a little embarrassed by the production...
