Non drinkers - heart issues [more prone without wine]
Moderate [daily one glass] - healthier. [And more relaxed - less stressed]
Heavy drinkers - liver issues [shortens life]

Thats the sum of it.

Did you know that at one time, cigarette ads were about how certain brands promoted good health ?

I co-worker brought in some magazines from the 1920's and I remember Chesterfield had an ad with a doctor supposedly stating that smoking Chesterfield Cigarettes would increase your energy level and overall health.

Lucky Strikes had something similar if I recall.

Jim

Wow.
My dad smoked lucky strikes [non filter] and pretty died from COPD [the new name for it] - because he couldnt take in air. He was a heavy smoker.

Other nationalities probably had similar things happen to them.

Had a toothache? Parent rubbed alcohol on that tooth/gum where the pain was.

Suffered a burn? Parent rubbed grain alcohol.

Had the flu? Parent spiked your tea with a little moonshine.

Had a little heartburn, upset stomach, the chills? Two immediate shots in a row.

Dealing with (Censored)? Buy a bottle.

Living in Yankees' town? Buy a bar.

The Giants are out of the playoffs? Buy the whole distillery.

Anyone who thinks alcohol is good for them has never spent a night drinking Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters with Zahod Beeblebrox

Sounds like i couldnt do it.

Italians, Greeks and the more European persuasion - who drink a glass with lunch and dinner [mainly wines] are heart healthier.
The heart attack rate is way lower - which amazes Dr's due to the high intake of carbs and meats.

So with all things - moderation.
Red grapes have a substantial amount of heart healthy stuff in them.
Some believe even drinking grape juice every day has the same effect.
FOR those who cannot touch alcohol - thats good news.

I had a single margarita last night. Thats my limit - moderate drinking even when i am out of with friends. I am usually designated driver... because i sip a glass of wine all night long - and eat with it. I dont get buzzed.

IF i do - i drink plenty of water. And eat something that absorbs it. But i dont go out much at all - so i dont worry. And sometimes i just nix having anything - so i can drive.

As one of my colleagues is fond of saying, "I don't have a drinking problem. I have a drinking solution!"
