In another thread some discussion going on (trying to go on) about what the gospel IS
and isn't.
Please share your thoughts on what IS the Gospel.

The Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the PRESENCE, Here and Now, of the Kingdom of Heaven upon the earth... The second part of that Good News is that there is something man can DO about the presence here and now of God's Heavenly Kingdom. He can be repenting from his worldly way of life that is turned from God, and begin to live an un-worldly life turned towards God...

THAT is the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...

The Kingdom of Heaven...

Here and Now...

I sure hope Brian will join this effort...

This is the gospel in 5 words: Christ died to save sinners.

He did indeed, in order that they should enter the Kingdom of Heaven...

Christ Himself did not preach your 5 words...

Matt 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,
"Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

The biblical definition is 1 Cor. 15:1-4:

"Now I make known to you brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures"

God became man to show us the way to follow his will and offer us a path to forgiveness and unity with him.

Christ himself spoke these words: “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” (John 18:36)

John 18:36......
At the time Jesus spoke this, His kingdom was indeed not of this world, for He had not "finished" nor entered His reign, nor returned. However, when He had "overcome" the world, He did begin His reign...and also returned (spiritually) in the glory of the Father to reign [with] those whom have Him residing in them.
I notice you braceted the here.....any reason?
Just for emphasis.

Since you also asked as to what it is not.

Rev. 14 is where an angel flies and brings the everlasting
gospel to the nations.

I see this as after faith is over, salvation is over for the church.
Jesus Christ has returned and the devil is no longer the prince
of the power of the air. Right now, this evil devil keeps people
blinded as to the gospel.
Another bit of "good news" is, that world, is passing away.

So it is not a physical kingdom of heaven on earth simply a spiritual one at this time.....

The "physical" is all "vanity" (nothing). So, just as God is spirit, so is His kingdom...which began on Earth the moment He took His place on the throne, in that omnipresent realm of God.

...having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming,
He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;
21nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."
