Yes; the interesting thing is that the Swedish technique has been employed in new areas for the first time. I am aware that much stem cell research doe snot use aborted material: I constantly reiterate the fact because most posters on this board do not seem aware of it.

This is a code name for communism. Yes, some will argue it's a socialist. No difference imo.

Wanting clean water and air is communism? Wanting workers to have safe working conditions is socialists? Wishing everyone had access to healthcare is anti-american? If this is true, I want no part of whatever party you support.

BTW, do you not want these things? If not, what do you want?

Articles on this subject are filled with "ifs" and "maybes" and "perhaps". The only funding is not from the taxpayers. There is private research going on as well. And even in the past few years adult stem cell and cord blood research is making great progress for humans(not just laboratory animals).

If you want to fund embryonic stem cell research with your own money, go ahead and buy a pig in a poke. Just keep my tax money out of it.

Spamming every thread you can find, eh? If scientists were sure of what would happen, there wouldn't be any "ifs", and presumably no reason to do reasearch. Der.

Embyronic stem cell research has produced zero benefits, while people are already reaping the benefits of adult stem cell and umbilical cord blood research - www.stemcellresearch.org.

I doubt any cures will ever come from embryonic stem cell research. If it was truly going to do so much good as its proponents claim it wouldn't be worlds behind these other research methods.

Funding embryonic stem cell research is merely buying a pig in a poke.

The site that your provided in DEAD set AGAINST Embyronic stem cells being utilized, of course they are going to twist and spin every number statistic and piece of Information thay have in their favor...

To those who would rather see Embroyonic stem cells end up as medical waste...If you feel so strongly that you would have NO problem going to those who are slowly dying and suffering from the illnesses that could be cured by stem cell therapy and telling them that the life of a Embroyonic stem cell sitting frozen in a fertility is more Important then their life.. while you are at it tell their wives, Husbands, children, mothers and Fathers why you feel this way as well...you wouldnt hve a problem doing this would you??? or what if your wife, Husband, mother, father, baby or child was dying and suffering from a illness that could be cured by the use of Embyronic stem cell therapy would you ahve a problem telling them why you are against the use of Embyronic stem cells to save their lives.....or why a Embyronic stem cell is more important then their life....Its so easy to sit here behind our electronic soapboxes and judge and speculate and pass judgement....I HATE HATE taxes...but I cant think of something that my tax money could be spent on then Medical reaserch and the promise that stem cells hold.

*sigh*

Read this very carefully...

Embryonic stems cells do not come from aborted fetuses.

No embryonic stem cell research uses aborted fetuses, by very definition it can't. Stem cell are differentiated too much to use after 5 days. Women don't even know they are pregnant that early.

Where are you hearing this nonsense?

Got it, and thank you for the 5 day maximum fact. I think that ill-informed or deceptive churches, websites, and individuals spread this kind of propaganda. They imagine a world in which we grow fetuses just to slaughter them for cells. Utter nonsense, of course.

It is actually to bad they don't come from (aborted) fetuses because we have alot of em kicking around- being tossed from abortion clinics and those being frozen in reproductive clinics (which will be thrown out).

The fact that a blastocyst is needed only strengthens the nah-sayers arguement- since a blastocyst is needs, one must be created for that purpose. There is no embroynic stem cell trash kicking around. Why they would spread deceptive information otherwise- I can't understand. Although, I can't understand their arguements much in the first place.

I think I come down on the opposite side as a lot of my contemporaries on this issue. I kind of agree with Chosen One. If you're going to keep abortion legal, you might as well allow the death of those children to possibly help someone live... as darkly ironic as that is. Why let them die in vain?

After WW2 it was decided that results from certain catagories of nazi medical experiments were not to be used, even though the data could have been useful. It is an intesting debate, but I tend towards that view. Remember that for an action to be good, both the ends and means to those ends have to be good.

The Europeans have these that you want. But again, they have double digits in unemployment, governments have difficulty changing policies for the better because people don't want change i.e. kinda like welfare, paying taxes up to the nose, and oh yeah...if you die before your operation turn coming up...you will at least get an apology letter (that's very nice of them, the Canadians). So go ahead if you want that system, move there.

Yes. There. Is.

IVF treatment creates a significant amount of 'stem cell trash'.
