Good Friday

. . . Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.
Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)

Yes, Friday was the 13th, but don’t let it bother you. Christians don’t live by superstition, luck, or magic; we live by faith in a God who ordains every detail of life. We travel an appointed way. We are redeemed by Christ and forgiven by His blood. Ephesians 1:7 says, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Psalm 65:3 puts it like this: "When we were overwhelmed by sins, You forgave our transgressions" (NIV).

Too often we blame our sins on "bad luck," when the problem is foolish pride and hard-core wickedness. The Bible says that in our flesh there dwells no good thing, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags in His sight.

Jesus Christ died on Good Friday to cleanse us from all sin, and His blood removes every stain in our hearts. You don’t have to live with regret or be tormented by guilty memories. You don’t have to feel unlucky, unloved, and unforgiven. Just as every Sunday is a reminder of Christ’s resurrection, every Friday is a reminder of the power of His Cross.

Even Friday the Thirteenth.

When we neither loved nor cared for ourselves, God both loved us and cared for us. God commended His love toward us.
