He was a really good person. He wouldn't even allow toys to be made of his make believe land props because he didn't think it was ethical to market to children, despite the fact it would probably be lucrative.

God Bless Fred Rogers. One of the really good ones, he lived a life of service. His testimony before a government panel regarding the potential positive value of children's programming is legendary. Few programs managed to live up to the potential that he saw, but his always did.

I've always liked Fred Rogers. I remember watching his show in the 1970s when I was 6 years old. It was a time when I lived in a rough, violent crime-ridden neighborhood, a time when I used to get bullied almost every day by a group of other kids. Watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was a temporary escape from that.
