GENEVA (AP) -- LSD is an unlikely subject for a 100th birthday party. Yet the Swiss chemist who discovered the mind-altering drug and was its first human guinea pig is celebrating his centenary Wednesday - in good health and with plans to attend an international seminar on the hallucinogenic.

Such a shame that the conservative backlash against the youth movement in the sixties halted legitimate scientific investigation into this fascinating substance.

But in all seriousness LSD probably has a wonderful therapuetic value which will not be discovered for a long time if ever. Before it was outlawed early experiments in controlled settings suggested that it would be helpfull for overcoming painful expereinces and helpful for things like PTSD.

Acid is serious stuff. Personal too. It takes a great interest interest in a person's perception of reality. Trouble with acid is while one certainly knows when it takes effect, one never knows for sure if it ever completely stops effecting one.
