During this past fall, when my hometown had very unseasonably warm weather, I put up a sarcastic post stating how the the warm weather in November must indicate that climate change is occurring.

Why is it that ACC supporters can make the connection between the hilarity of singular events being used to explain global warming but ACC detractors use it as an actual basis for (what they consider to be) a "well reasoned argument"? Do you guys really just not get it?

No, we don't "get it" at all - particularly when the "it" is so utterly incredible and so demonstrably and singularly political.

What we don't "get" is how ACC worshippers put their faith so blindly in such hogwash and how they totally fail to see the political agenda driving the whole hoax in the first place.

The "agenda driving the hoax" is not more present than the agenda against "the hoax". So given competing political agendas, why not brinjg it into the proper forum for debate instead of crying like petulant children wanting to argue with their parents about what type of mortgage they should be getting.

What you really don't get is the scientific arguments that make ACC such a compelling argument. When you don't get those scientific argument you try to bring it to a level you can comprehend; political.


It really is not a political debate, no matter how much you want to shove your head in the sand about it. And given the derision with which so many people treat their politicians, why would you want to make any kind of debate more political?

If I may be permitted to finish up my rant, may I suggest that ACC detractors are nothing by prideful ignoramuses who refuse to believe that people smarter than them exist in this world. And listening to them is a fruitless exercise.

As I understand climate change/global warming, freak weather patterns are a symptom.

It seems that climate change has gone from predictions of warming to a completely unverifiable hypothesis.

Well, the IPCC predicted continuous global warming, and the last 10 years have been cooling (or at least the last 5 years- depending on whose numbers you choose; scientists have yet to reach a consensus on how to measure the global temperature; albeit not an easy problem).

I guess now the proper thing is to point to freak weather occurrences, which is a large world are actually quite common, and blame it on man.

Funny; in my readings of Thoreau he cites freaky weather patterns..... the Bible too.......... Homer..........

I guess ancient man used to burn fossil fuels as well.

What is "ACC"?

ACC is the new denomination of the old church of GW, a political convention of the left which used to be the holy church of GC, which trial balloon popped after a few years of justifiable ridicule during which time GW (now ACC) deacon poliscientists were called out by their legislative apostles to fabricate sufficient hokum for prophetic purposes to warrant a drop, albeit temporary, in ridicule long enough to evangelize large numbers of eager proselytes with their message of bad news. Not satisfied with those numbers, the apostles expanded their mission field to the ripe fields of Hollywood, discipling numerous converts among those more talented than they in the art of make believe which greatly expanded the bad news worldwide, particularly among the naive and well-to-do. The coffers of the church greatly expanded and buldged in tithes and deacon poliscientists eventually rose to the level of full-fledged shamans - while at the same time enemies of the gospel of bad news gathered their forces and waged war against the recently-patched and reinflated new trial balloon the GC faithful now called CC. To counter the rising forces against them, the [new] CC-ites adopted an early measure of the GW era to demonize the unfaithful by prepending their own name with an "A" - anthropo-something-or-other, which the policientists prophesied falsely would sway the unfaithful by targeting their emotions, being human themselves. "Anthropogenic" - that's the word - loosely meaning "humans are to blame."

It's truly a history of change and adaptation as various convolutions emerged to address a righteously skeptical world. When the "GC" (global cooling) name didn't fly for their religion, they tried "GW" (global warming). That garnered more support - mostly because they retained the "G" (global) to make their message universal, but they added the "A" as noted above to counter enemy ridicule deeping the guilt of their own membership, strengthening their power over them. When neither "C" (cooling) nor "W" (warming) resulted in the desired effect, church leaders opted for a change and went with "CC" - the first "C" referring to "Climate" (not to be confused with "Weather") and the second "C" referring to "Change" (not to be confused with reason and common sense). With the human blame factor prepended, you have the current manifestation and TLA of the church's faith - "ACC."

Interestingly, a new clergy class is emerging within the church - the APS, or "astro-poli-scientist" who are on the verge of breaking new ground with the church's gospel of bad news. Their claim (the prophetic truths are in the works right now), will be that the earth, changing as it is and floating in the solar system as it is, is having a deleterious effect on the climates of neighboring planets - most notably Mars - where the thus far unsuccesful search for ice (solid water to the uninitiated) may be directly linked to the existence of SUVs in America. The research is ongoing (new funding just approved with the Health Care Reform bill), but they are expecting a breakthrough any day now, my sources tell me.

Someone asked what ACC is, I will repeat the question since I do not know either.

I fully accept the planet's climate is changing. Looking throughout history weather changes. The ice cap melts, the world has more water, the more it rains, the more severe it rains, the more severe the weather patterns get.
What I do not believe is that humans are causing it.
I offer this; Scientists have said the world has been getting hotter since before the USA was even discovered. You know back when every building burned wood to hea their home, pouring unfiltered soot and smog into the air. They did show a sig. increase around the period of the industrail revolution.
What it doesn't show, is any change in the warming when polution controls were put in place. They were put in place to make the cities more healthy, not because the world was heating up.
Nothing slowed the warming throughout history. Anti-industrial people use this as evidence that progress destroyed any good produced by improvements in smog control. So many new factorys sprang up, that smog wasn't reduced.

BTw my previous post was not making light of the suffering of people, just illustrating that europe is not a perfect socialist utopia.

"C" = Climate (not to be confused with weather)
"C" = Change (not to be confused with reason and common sense)

Since over 300 prophecies have been fulfilled in scripture ,I totally believe scripture has already denounced the global warming alarmists!

The problem of course is that these are two conflicting spiritual systems whose objects of worship couldn't be farther apart - God vs. government (or, poliscience manipulated by government).

Both require faith - but the message of one is a message of hope and good news while the message of the other is a message of dire news and global calamity.

One's prophesies are confirmed, the other's exposed as lies.

In both systems, all are guilty regardless, but one has a savior who's taken away our guilt and freed us from the Law while the other's "savior" piles guilt on and seeks to expand the Law to every aspect of daily life.

One savior has paid the price, once for all; the other requires us all pay the price, ad-infinitum.

One system requires we become humble, the other that we become proud and green.

One system believes God created the heavens and earth, the other that man can destroy it.

One system is fair and equitable, the other unjust and lopsided.

The comparisons go on... but the truth - stark and contrasting as it is - remains.
