Actually, I could be mistaken about this, but I think that if a deacon is present, he is actually supposed to read the Gospel. At least my missal assumes that, if a deacon is present, that he will be reading.
Yup, Deacon does Gospel in my experiance.

I go to a Jesuit parish and we had 1 baptism, 5 people being received into full Communion, and three others receiving Confirmation who were already Catholic. I would also describe the parish as "liberal leading", although perhaps not as "bad" as yours. In brief, I think that it's not worth you mentioning that the parish was run by Jesuits because, like many orders, there are orthodox and not-so-orthodox in it.

Right. That role always belongs to the Deacon if one is participating.

Now, if a Deacon had preached at the Vigil, that would be strange. Not wrong, just unusual.
