"Dilbert" Creator Predicts "Master Wizard" Donald Trump Will Win Election With His "Linguistic Kill Shots" | Real Clear Politics

SCOTT ADAMS: I see a flamethrower, the flamethrower guy wins in a stick fight...

The idea of the Master Wizard Hypothesis says there are some people in the world, living people, masters of persuasion, they've got a linguistic gift for influencing people. And they are using actual techniques.

What I [see] in Trump is someone who was highly trained. A lot of the things that the media were reporting as sort of random insults and bluster and just Trump being Trump, looked to me like a lot of deep technique that I recognized from the fields of hypnosis and persuasion.
He makes some great points ... and provides illustrative examples.

Yeah, because a cartoonist who says things like "The reality is that women are treated differently by society for exactly the same reason that children and the mentally handicapped are treated differently" is the perfect person to turn to for political insight.

"Linguistic kill shots" and "flamethrowing" is not quite what we need. How about concrete ideas and solutions instead.

Exactly. I'd prefer someone who walks the walk rather than talks the talk.

Except I'm pretty sure Sanders actually does walk the walk.
I've heard that rumor ... but then someone here on this very forum pointed out that he's not really a socialist ... and isn't even consistent about calling himself a socialist.

What kind of a walk is that?

Why would it matter if he's a socialist or not? That's not why I'm voting for him. I'm voting for him because a lot of what he's saying agrees with my own views and politics.

I take it you are opposed to Hillary and Sanders then ... for the same reason?

They've at least walked. Trump hasn't walked a day in his life, but talks as if he's an expert walker.

If you can name some tangible accomplishments for either, I'll grant your point. Thanks in advance.

Noting that he does have real and tangible accomplishments.

They have political experience.

Noting that he does have real and tangible accomplishments.

But no political experience.

He's a businessman, and certainly a good one. But the United States is not a business.

No accomplishments for either Hillary or Sanders. Even Hillary refuses to name any accomplishments while Secretary of State.

The United States government is by far the largest business operation in the country. Nothing else even comes close.

I didn't say "the United States government is not a business". I said "the United States is not a business".

I don't think you're getting through to the person. They obviously don't care about reality.

It appears to me that perceptions of "reality" differ greatly in this conversation.

My point was that you're ignoring their points in favor of your own views. Trump really has zero political experience, but Sanders and Hillary both have quite a lot of it. Sanders especially.

And it's true to say that the United States is not a business. The United States. As in "We the People". Not Congress or the government.

I am not a business statistic.

I never disagreed with that. I merely asked for what they have accomplished with their political experience. A number of politicians have tangible accomplishments which they can point to. Hillary and Sanders ... apparently, not so much.

Sanders predicted the Great Recession five years before it happened, and he tried to call someone out on that too.

So yeah, I'm going to trust Sanders.

As far as political accomplishments go, Trump has zero since he has zero political experience. So he's actually a worse candidate than the others, logically, since his lack of experience opens him up more to failure than success.

I might as well add this. Trump's mysoginistic views will not speak well for women and men, politically (yes, it affects men because it shapes the way they think about and treat women). His racist views, such as calling all Mexicans 'criminals and rapists' does not speak well of how he will handle other countries and his foreign policies, nevermind the inherent civil rights issues that will pop up under his presidency both within our own nation and others.

Trump will most likely accrue political failure than success. I truly do not believe he is ready.
