Community pays tribute to Sunnyvale teen killed by big rig on Interstate 280 - San Jose Mercury News
He died July 10 when he fell under a semi-truck while walking toward his Sunnyvale home with two friends......
According to the California Highway Patrol, his friends and several witnesses said Javier climbed onto the tow bar connecting the front and rear trailers of the dual gravel truck at about 12:30 p.m. while the big rig was stopped at a red light on the east side of Wolfe Road.
Yeah, sure, I've done that before. Don't you know that climbing on a moving big rig is an integral part of walking from one place to another? Yup, it sure is necessary to climb onto a moving vehicle in order to successfully ambulate. Sorry the kid was killed, but gee Wally, ya think it coulda been avoided? Oh well, at least he gets a whole community to pay homage to him. No doubt, the poor driver of the big rig will be painted a villian of sorts and he or the trucking company will be sued.
